Almost Naked Animals on DVD

Put a bunch of cartoon animals in their underwear and you will have kids all over laughing hysterically.  Almost Naked Animals, Cartoon Networks top-rated show for children ages 6-11, will be releasing volume 1 on DVD on September 25, 2012.

Almost Naked Animals:  It’s My Party! DVD Episode Synopsis:

It’s My Party – Episode 101
While getting the hotel ready for a big party, everyone gets trapped in the basement – with only Duck to save them.  Then, the Banana Cabana needs to be awarded at least one star by a reviewer in order to keep the hotel out of Poodle’s clutches.

Saliva Drive – Episode 102
Dirk Danger is holding a contest to find a sidekick for his new movie. Howie desperately wants the part, but when Octo wins, Howie has to help his friend make it through the stunts. Then, Howie finds a lost toy that – when you add water to it – becomes a monster truck!

One Star Hotel – Episode 103
Howie quits the hotel biz to try to lure his hero Dirk Danger out of retirement. Then, Howie leaves a humongous hunk of ear wax under his pillow for the Ear Wax Elf. But when the Elf doesn’t arrive, it’s up to Howie to figure out what he did to make the Ear Wax Elf mad!

What Would Batty DO – Episode 104
A Howie stunt goes very wrong and injures Poodle’s assistant, Batty, so Howie takes over as Poodle’s assistant while Batty recuperates at the Banana Cabana. Then, an electrical mishap leaves Duck with psychic powers – or so everyone believes. Poodle stages a Duck-napping in order to have a psychic of her very own.

Employee of the Month – Episode 105
Howie has been secretly awarding himself Employee of the Month for years. When the staff find out they challenge Howie to take on all their jobs and do them better. Surely he’s up to it!

Duck Vinci Code – Episode 106
When the Banana Cabana runs out of food (thanks to Poodle), Howie plants a ‘magic bean.’ Next thing they know, the bean becomes a monstrous animal-swallowing plant! Then, Howie’s trapped inside the Chateau Chattoo and all his friends are stuck outside, as a ketchup, mustard and relish hurricane rages across the beach.

My kids really liked this show.  They watched the DVD twice the first day we got it.  I have to admit, it was a little weird that the animals were in their underwear, but according to my kids, that’s what makes it funny!  And I have to admit, I laughed a few times while watching this show with them!

In addition to the DVD release, The Almost Naked Animals “Online Super Game” will be launching on September 25. 2012, as well.  Café Press has partnered with 9 Story Entertainment to launch a new online store on September 25th, featuring Almost Naked Animals t-shirts, notebooks and more.  I was sent an Almost Naked Animals care package, complete with a bag, volume 1 DVD, t-shirt, tote bag and a notebook.  Zachary instantly claimed the t-shirt and Bella took the notebook.

Almost Naked Animals can be found on Twitter and Facebook, too, so be sure to stop by and have some fun!

Mattel Polly Pocket Review

One of the things I have noticed having a boy first and then a girl is that my daughter not only skipped over the whole toddler stage and went right from a baby to a kid, but she is more interested in boy toys, television shows, and activities than girly things.  Some say that’s not that big of a deal, and your right…it’s not.  However, watching her in Kindergarten this past year, the fact that she had more in common with the boys than girls posed a slight problem.  While most of the time the boys didn’t mind her playing, they didn’t always want a girl around.  Bella doesn’t understand that.

Despite all of that, there is one toy that Bella has ALWAYS liked that is rather girly and that is her doll house.  Knowing this, when I was given the opportunity to participate in a blog tour put on by Mom Central and Mattel to review Polly Pockets, I jumped at the chance.  I just knew she would like this toy.  She’s looked at them in the store before and has asked to get them.  When the box arrived I told her I had a surprise for her and need her help reviewing an item.  She was literally shaking, she was so excited!  It was too cute.

Bella has not put these toys down!  As a parent, I especially like the stick ‘n’ play feature of the toy.  Adding suction cups to the bottom of EACH item was genius on Mattel’s part.  There is nothing more frustrating to a child than knowing where you want a toy to sit, but then it move around because you bumped the side, etc.  I had to laugh though…Bella left her toy unattended while she left the room and her brother thought it would be funny to suction everything upside down.  I wish I could say Bella found it as funny as we did, but she didn’t!

Since getting the Polly Pockets, Bella has used her birthday money from last year to purchase another set to go along with what she received.  We’ve had some really hot weather lately and the kids have been playing primarily inside.  I hate seeing them play video games all day long, so something like Polly Pockets that supports and encourages creativity is great!  And believe me…Bella has an imagination!

I highly recommend the Polly Pocket Stick ‘n’ Play toys this holiday season (isn’t it crazy that I am already thinking about Christmas?!?).  If I had to suggest one thing to Mattel, it would be to make the shoes so they can’t come off!

Disclosure:  I received the above pictured Polly Pockets as part of a blog campaign courtesy of Mom Central and Mattel.  All opinions are 100% mine (and Bella’s)!

Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax Blu-ray Combo Pack!

I will fully admit, I am not a fan of kid movies.  I actually fall asleep during them when I take my kids.  One of the theaters in the area has been airing $1.00 movies all summer long and last week it was Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax.  I was fully planning on taking my cat nap, but I absolutely loved The Lorax!  Not only was it super colorful, but the story was cute and kept you engaged!  But that doesn’t surprise me.  The Lorax is from the creators of Despicable Me and I really enjoyed that movie too!

The imaginative world of Dr. Seuss comes to life like never before in this visually spectacular adventure from the creators of Despicable Me!  Twelve-year-old Ted will do anything to find a real live Truffula Tree in order to impress the girl of his dreams.  As he embarks on his journey, Ted discovers the incredible story of the Lorax, a grumpy but charming creature who speaks for the trees.  Featuring the voice talents of Danny DeVito, Ed Helms, Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Rob Riggle, Jenny Slate and Betty White, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax is filled with hilarious fun for everyone!

Both the Blu-Ray 3D Combo Pack and the Blu-Ray Combo Pack is full of bonus features including games, sing-a-longs, how to draw Seuss characters and much more!  The movie is set to hit stores this week on August 7, 2012!  I have a feeling this one is going to sell out fast!  We have plans to have a family movie night this weekend to watch The Lorax and eat popcorn.

Did you see The Lorax?  Did you like it?

Do You Have a Fitbit?

As you know, I want to lose weight…a lot of weight.  One of the things my husband and I did was get a membership to Planet Fitness gym.  We’ve been members of a lot of different gyms, but this one is by far our favorite.  I never have to wait for a machine (which is good…make me wait and I lose interest…seriously) and they don’t tolerate the whole body building thing where you feel intimidated by big huge guys walking around slamming weights all over the place.  Instead, if they hear that, they press a button sounding an alarm and everyone stares at the offenders.  It’s one of my most favorite times at the gym!  And to top it all off, the membership is only $10 or $20 a month.  I have the $20 a month membership because I like the massage chairs and the infrared machines.

I also use My Fitness Pal to log all of my weight and exercises (ImLeah525 is my screen name…friend me)!  I think it is key to use something like My Fitness Pal to keep track of what you are eating.  What I like about this site is that you can literally see, in pie graph form, the percentage of fat, carbs and protein you are eating.  This way, if you are not losing weight, you can see exactly what area you may be eating too much or too little in.  And they have an app for both your ipad/iphone or your Android phone!

But today I got something I have been wanting for a VERY long time.  I got a Fitbit.  This little thing will track how many steps you take, how many calories you burn and it will also tell you how well you sleep (can’t wait to try that feature out tonight)!  The other nice part is that the Fitbit site will connect with My Fitness Pal so I can see just how much calories I am burning and see where I need to step it up (literally) to be successful in my weight loss journey.  Here’s a picture of the one I got…isn’t it pretty?
Now I just have to decide where I want to wear it…on my waist or my bra.  Apparently women like to wear it hooked to their bra.  I’m thinking mine will be on my waist.  But really, I doubt it will be a bother anywhere I decide to wear it.  This thing is the size of a fun size Kit Kat.

Tomorrow is the first day I start to wear it (well except for sleeping tonight).  How many steps do you think I will take throughout the day?  Knowing my competitive nature, I will always try to one up myself in the steps department from day to day (which will help my weight loss efforts).  I could seriously see myself running around the block before bed because I didn’t beat yesterday’s steps.

Leave me a comment telling me how many steps you think I will take my first day…

Disney Pixar Brave: The Video Game Obstacle Course and Giveaway!

We are a gaming family.  My husband knew I was the one he was meant to marry when he realized I loved playing video games just as much as he did.  I was a pretty cheap date when we first met; quick bite to eat and back to his place to play video games.  It was love at first punch (I’m pretty good at the fighting games)!  So as you can imagine, our kids love video games as well.  Of course we limit the amount they are allowed to play, but we have been known to have family game night that included the use of the Xbox 360 with Kinect.

Being the video game enthusiast that I am, I am VERY excited to give away one copy of the new Disney Pixar Brave video game for the Xbox Kinect!  If you aren’t familiar with this game, you choose your character and run, jump and battle your way through mythical Scotland.  Face off against enemies to end the curse and save the kingdom!  The new Disney Pixar Brave video game is available on Kinect, PlayStation Move, Wii, Mac and PC.  But that’s not all…two lucky winners will also win a Brave Temple Run for the iphone or ipad!
