A Look Back at 2012!

Well it’s the first day of 2013 and I can’t help but think back to all that 2012 held for me…that and I just got done reading Lynsey’s 2012 Wrap Up post and I wanted to copy do my own!

My 2012!

 1.  What did you do in 2012 that you had never done before?

I spent some time with Huge Hefner, before he said “I Do” to Crystal Harris:

Huge-Hefner 2.  Did you keep your New Years resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

For the most part…I did keep my resolution which was to lose weight at exercise more.  Up until Thanksgiving, I was going to the gym five days a week and eating pretty well.  Then I got sick for a month and wasn’t able to make it to the gym.  I did make a resolution for 2013 which is to continue losing weight and eat and prepare healthier food for my family.  I also want to do more freezer cooking so I have healthy options made at all times.

 3.  Did anyone close to you give birth?

Nope!  But several people close to me will be giving birth in 2013!!  Can’t wait to meet my new nieces or nephews!

 4.  Did anyone close to you die?

Yes and it was absolutely horrible.  Cancer sucks.  I’m just glad Tom is in a better place and out of pain.  I’m also thankful to have found a good way for my kids to say goodbye to their Great-Uncle…they loved him very much.

 5.  What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?

More time with my husband.  His job is very demanding and I am thankful he has one, but I also miss spending time with him.  Hopefully the Date Night Jar I made him for Christmas helps with that!

 6.  What countries did you visit?

I can’t leave the United States.  I don’t have a passport.  I used to be able to go to Canada, but they changed those rules too now.  So I’m basically stuck in the States.

 7.  What date from 2012 will forever be etched in your memory, and why?

The first weekend in October.  I went to Brandcation and met a lot of ladies that I have been chatting with online since I started blogging.  It was so great to spend time with people that I know better than a lot of people I see on a daily basis yet had never had the opportunity to meet because we are spread out all over the U.S.

Memorial weekend when Dan and I went away for our 10th anniversary.  We didn’t go anywhere overly special, but it was just nice to be alone with each other.

 8.  What was your biggest achievement this year?

While it’s small, my biggest achievement is building up my Facebook Fan page.  I set a goal for myself and I achieved that goal!

 9.  What was your biggest failure?

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a failure, but I had lost 50lbs and gained a little back.  However, ultimately I had a little over 100lbs I want to lose.  I could have done better in that area this past year.

10.  Did you suffer illness or injury?

OMGosh do not even get me started on sickness.  I got the dreaded stomach flu the day after Thanksgiving.  No sooner did I get better, but my kids came down with it.  I get them healthy and a few days later I have strep throat.  The antibiotics I got put on did not take care of the strep so I had to get put on something stronger…as if that wasn’t bad enough, my husband and kids both got strep as well.  Hopefully (knock on wood), we are done being sick for awhile!!

11.  What was the best thing you bought?

It’s not what I bought, but what I won online.  The Neato Automatic Vacuum is by far the best thing I have ever had in my house.  Yesterday I was getting the house ready for my parents to come over for dinner.  The Neato vacuumed the first floor while I dusted and cleaned the bathroom.  I’ve had it for about a week and a half, maybe two weeks and I love it.  You program it to vacuum at times you want it to and it just does it!

 12.  Whose behavior merited celebration?

Honestly…each person in my family for very different reasons.

13.  Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?

I would have to say, any American during the election who chose to cut other people down for their choice of President.  Quite honestly, I could care less who you voted for…just treat each other with respect.

14.  Where did most of your money go?

Unfortunately…Subway.  We ate a lot of that during football season.  I just could not get a handle on things and have dinner ready early enough and still make it to practice.  That’s one of the biggest reasons why I want to start freezer cooking.  I want to be prepared this year!

15.  What did you get really, really excited for?

The Neato vacuum I posted about in question 11.  I’m telling…this think is awesome!

16.  What song will always remind you of 2012?

Home by Phillip Phillips.  It played the entire time during the Olympics!

17.  Compared to this time last year, are you:

i.  Happier or Sadder?  Much happier…less stress since Dan has a job!

ii. Thinner or Fatter?  A tad fatter…I only gained a tiny bit back.

iii.  Richer or poorer?  Richer…Dan has a job!

18.  What do you wish you had done more of?

Organizing my house.  It really needs to be done and I will not ignore it this year!

19.  What do you wish you had done less of?

Piling things up and not putting it in it’s place!

20.  How did you spend Christmas?

The Sunday before Christmas Eve we had Christmas at my moms house.  Christmas Eve we spent it with my father in-laws side of the family.  Christmas morning we stayed home and did our own little thing in the morning with the kids.  That afternoon we spent Christmas with my in-laws.  The day after Christmas we were supposed to go to Toledo to see family, but the weather was not good so we stayed and played games.  The day after the day after we spent the day doing Christmas again with the rest of my in-laws.

Christmas is a week long in our family!

21.  Um…there is no question 21…where did it go??

22.  Did you fall in love in 2012?

Well…I am still in love with my husband and because he is gone more than he is here, I get butterflies when I see him and when he kisses me.  So guess that would be me falling in love with him all over again each and every Friday he comes home!  Hopefully he reads this because he just sees me all frustrated because the kids have driven me crazy all week!

23.  How many one-night stands?

Um…none!  Ever.  In my entire life.

24.  What was your favorite television show?

Reruns of Beverly Hills, 90210!  It’s the only thing that gets me through the week when Dan is out of town.  I just watch show after show after show once the kids go to bed!

25.  Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate at this time last year?

Nope…my feelings towards people are the same now as they were then…

26.  What was the best book you read?

I really enjoyed Dark Bayou (part of the Dark Trilogy).

27.  What did you want and get?

I really wanted a new point and shoot camera that I could keep in my purse that was smaller than my big DSLR camera.  My husband got me the Samsung Smart camera!

28.  What was your greatest musical discovery?

Well it’s not so much a discovery as it was me shelling out money for Sirius radio…I now listen to 90’s on 9 every single day.  My kids even know the words to a lot of the 90’s music now!!

29.  Hmmm…this question is missing too…

30.  What was your favorite film this year?

Breaking Dawn 2.  Yes I know.  I just love it.

31.  What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?

I was 31 (I turn 32 in February).  I really cannot remember what we did.  I do remember my old work (Marketplace Homes) decorated my cubical and got Chinese take-out and cupcakes!  (Sorry Dan…I feel bad I don’t remember what we did).

32.  What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

I would have love to have lost more weight.  But honestly…I’m OK with how the year went.  I’d rather move forward and do better in 2013!

33.  How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?

Um…I wear what fits and what is comfortable.  I don’t worry myself much with fashion.

34.  What kept you sane?

Brandon Walsh, Kelly Taylor, Donna Martin, Steve Sanders, Valerie Malone and David Silver.

35.  Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Eric from True Blood is nice to look at…what’s his name again???

36.  What political issue stirred you the most?

I tend to stay out of those debates.  They never end well.

37.  Who did you miss?

I miss all the ladies I got to spend a few days with at Brandcation!  I can’t wait to see them again some day!

38.  Who was the best new person you met?

Ooh this goes with the above question!  I had so much fun meeting my blogging friends!  Maryann, Kim, Trisha, Lynsey, Candy…I could go on and on!

39.  Tell us a valuable lesson you learned in 2012.

I learned that no matter how hard things seem, they always get better.

40.  Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

Honestly…I have no idea.  I’m so bad at this…if I think of one, I’ll update!

OK…now it’s your turn!  Be sure to link up at Mommy Wants Vodka!
