New Years Resolution: Lose Weight

That has been my New Years Resolution since I’ve had kids…so the past 4 years now. Have I stuck to it or succeeded? Nope. Not even in the littlest bit. However, I think this year will be different. You know why? Probably not, but I’m gonna tell ya!

I subscribe to the Hungry Girl emails. They are, by far, the BEST weight loss type emails ever! Last year I got the Hungry Girl Cookbook, which is one of my favorite cookbooks (gotta try breading your chicken and pork chops with crushed fiber one cereal…Mmm!). After going through her cookbook, I subscribed to her site for her daily emails. She sends some of the best things.

Now why do I think this year will be the year I will stick to my resolution? Because of the email I just got! The mother of all grocery lists! The list that will help me make wise choices while grocery shopping! Want to snag yourself a copy of the list? Well go here and get it!

My favorite location on her site, is the News section. It is jammed packed with very helpful information for everyone! If you think this sounds like a book for you, head over here and choose the place you would like to buy it from. There are links to Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc.

You won’t regret getting this book or signing up for the emails. And remember, next time you are craving breaded chicken, bread it in crushed Fiber One cereal. Not only are you upping your fiber intake, but it tastes good too!

Proof that Nice People DO win!!

I just finished watching The Biggest Loser and as usual, I am BLOWN away at the transformations these people made! Literally blown away. If you haven’t seen the show yet, you may want to stop reading right about now because I don’t want to spoil anything for you.

Throughout the season, I really started to dislike Heba, Vicki, and Brady. Heba was annoying every time she opened her mouth. Vicki too. She was so mean and conniving…always talking about how she was “playing the game” etc. And don’t even get me started about the little lie that her husband or should I say, Vicki, cooked up about Phillip talking crap about Heba. How stupid do they think the viewers are? Had something like that gone down, you better believe they would have aired it.

So yea, anyway…last week when Ed pleaded with America to vote for Heba to be in the finale, I just knew that was going to backfire and everyone was going to vote for him out of spite. I just loved with Allison Sweeny said “it’s a landslide…”! But then I began to worry that Heba would win the at home (which she did) and then Ed would go and win the actual Biggest Loser title…but thankfully, that didn’t happen.

I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t help but laugh when Vicki almost fell trying to walk in her pair of hooker heels. Why wear shoes that you can’t even walk in? And then when Michelle came out and Bob went to help her, she kind of had this look like “um…I wore shoes I can walk i, but thanks”!

I was so beyond happy to see Michelle win. I liked her from day one on the show. I thought, after Coleen, Michelle was the nicest person on that show. But beyond nice, she gave it 110% week in and week out. Yes she thought about going home, but that had a lot to do with the psychological issues she was dealing with and once she overcame those…it was smooth sailing for her.

I wish I could go on this show so bad. And I would definitely want Bob to be my trainer 😉

Adding Fiber to Your Diet

You’ve probably heard that it is very good for your health to add fiber to your diet. According to the Mayo Clinic:

“Dietary fiber — found mainly in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes — is probably best known for its ability to prevent or relieve constipation. But fiber can provide other health benefits as well, such as lowering your risk of diabetes and heart disease.”

You can read the rest of the Mayo Clinic article here.

I recently read about a good way to add a little extra fiber. Buy the original Fiber One cereal and crush it in a blender. When you want to bread chicken or pork, bread it using the fiber one. Thats what I did tonight. I dipped the chicken in fat free Catalina dressing and then dipped it in the crushed Fiber One . I added a few other seasonings to the Fiber One, as well.

Baked it in the oven at 375 degrees for 45 mins. It was soooo good! Even my son, king of picky eaters, devoured it!

NovaSure Procedure

NovaSure is the out patient procedure I had done on Friday. My husband took me to the office, I was taken back to a room and told to take 1 Vicodin (oh I was feeling good!). An IV was started and I was given something that basically put me asleep for about 10 minutes. I needed no breathing tubes, nothing. They did put an oxygen mask on me (I think). I woke up, got dressed, and was on my way home. Very easy procedure.

Why Did I Have the NovaSure Procedure?

Now why did I have? Well, without getting into all the gross, nitty gritty details, after having my two beautiful children, not only did my body size change (thanks kids lol), but so did my periods. After discussing things at length with my doctor, as well as, try out birth control pills to help solve the problem, we decided to do the NovaSure procedure. It was either do that or have a partial hysterectomy. Being that I am only 27 years old, I didn’t want to have that kind of surgery just yet.

Before having NovaSure, you have to be 100% sure that you are done having children. Pregnancy after NovaSure would be near impossible and possibly dangerous, to carry a child to term. The chances of getting pregnant after having this procedure are slim, but there’s still a chance nonetheless.

NovaSure Recovery

I will definitely let you know how things go in the next few months after having this done. I have to say, last night I was in probably the worst pain I have ever been in. At some points, Vicodin was not even touching the pain. But I am happy to report that today, the pain has subsided quite a bit. Not 100%, but it’s tolerable.

So definitely check out the site if you are having issues and you think that this procedure might help you. Over the next few months, I will be sure to update you on any problems after NovaSure and any NovaSure procedure side effects I experienced. One piece of advice, pick up a few things to keep yourself occupied. I enjoyed coloring in my adult coloring booknovasure. Trust me!

Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Awhile back, I was watching the Dr. Phil show (don’t judge) and I saw a heart rate monitor watch. I was drawn to it because you didn’t have to wear a chest strap. Of course, I forgot to write down the name so I couldn’t remember what it was called. Last week I was at Dick’s Sporting Goods and while I was waiting for my husband and son to finish in the fishing section, I wandered into the fitness section and picked up this watch. In the upper right hand corner were the words I was looking for “As Seen on the Dr. Phil Show!“. After a quick Google search, I read the different heart rate monitor watch reviews and knew that this was the watch I wanted.

About the Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Now on to the important stuff…the specs for the Mio Motiva Watchheart rate monitor:

  • Accurate heart rate WITHOUT a chest strap
  • Full featured sports watch with exercise timer, alarm, date, and backlight display.
  • You have the ability to track the amount of calories you’ve consumed throughout the day

Looks like a pretty good wireless heart rate monitor to me! For me, I want a heart rate monitor so I know if I am working out efficiently. I don’t have a lot of time to spare so spending it working out inefficiently is stupid!

I used the watch today. After entering my weight, age, and sex, all I needed to do to see how many calories I burned while working out was to push start and take my initial heart rate. This started the exercise timer. Periodically during my workout, I took my heart rate. When I was finished with my workout, I pushed stop and it told me how many calories I burned!

I don’t know if I will use it to track my calories consumed during the day. I use My Fitness Pal for that. However, workout wise, I like being able to see how many calories I burned and it is much more accurate than the sensors on the machines. Making the decision to buy heart rate monitor was a good one!
