Smelly Washer Review and GIVEAWAY!! –CLOSED

In my quest to be the best Domestic Goddess that I can be, there are a few things that I need to work on. The laundry is one of them. I mean seriously, if you frequent this blog often you would know my serious problems with laundry (like this one).

My biggest problem is remembering to switch things from the washing machine to the dryer. Getting that yucky smell out is always difficult. I’ve tried it all…vinegar in the rinse cycle, baking soda, etc. Nothing really worked. So when I was given the opportunity to try out a product called Smelly Washer, I jumped at the opportunity. This product was made for people like me!

So coincidentally, I got the mail the other day and in it were two bottles of Smelly Washer. At that moment I had one of those “aha” moments. Yes you guessed it. I left a load in the washing machine. They had been in there for 3 days. We’re talking a really stinky mess. But lucky for me (and Smelly Washer since I was doing a review for them) I had the tools to fix that stinky mess. And boy did it ever! Just one cap full of the Smelly Washer granules and all smells were eliminated! Here’s what I did:

  • Filled the washing machine with water and added one cap full of the Smelly Washer. Let the clothes and Smelly Washer agitate for two minutes and then allowed them to soak for two hours.
  • After two hours, I allowed the washing machine to finish it’s cycle and then rewashed the clothes with detergent.
  • Next I put the clothes in the dryer and a hour later, I had wonderful smelling clothes!

Another good thing you can do with your Smelly Washer is clean your washing machine. I know I know. It sounds crazy to clean something that is made to CLEAN your clothes, but detergent can start to build up inside the crevices of the machine as well as mold and other nasty things. Just fill the machine up, add Smelly washer to the water and let it soak all night. In the morning you will have a fresh smelling (and clean!) washing machine!

Smelly Washer retails for 16.99 per bottle and they ship worldwide! The people at Smelly Washer are giving my readers 10% off when they use the promotional code DGODDESS1. But guess what?? I have 3…yes THREE bottles to give away to three different readers!

Leslie Patricelli books…Team Mom Review

Reading is a huge part of my life. Always has been, always will be. My kids have developed my love of reading as well. When I received two books by Leslie Patricelli, I couldn’t stop looking at them with my kids.

The first book we looked at was a little young for them, but they still liked it nonetheless called “Baby Happy Baby Sad”. This book is a board book and would be good for 12 months and up, in my opinion. The pictures are colorful and very expressive. As you guessed from the title, each page shows either a happy baby moment or a sad baby moment.

The second book was a big hit, especially for my 4 year old who loves to swing and is always telling me to make him go higher. In the book, “Higher! Higher!”, there is a little girl on a swing asking her father to push her higher and higher. With each new page, we see just how high she goes (or how high her imagination takes her). With vivid colors and very expressive pictures, “Higher! Higher” is a book that any child would enjoy.

Leslie Patricelli is the author and the illustrator of her books. Her titles include:

  • Binky, Blankie
  • BIG Little
  • Quiet LOUD
  • Yummy YUCKY
  • The Birthday Box
  • Baby Happy Baby Sad
  • Higher! Higher!

I highly recommend both books. I think they would make a nice addition to a shower gift, a first birthday present, etc. “Higher! Higher!” is available in March and “Baby Happy Baby Sad” is available now. Pick up one, or pick up both!

Tiffany Giardina CD Review

Finally! Some music that we can let our kids listen to and not be appalled at what is being said in the lyrics. Tiffany Giardina may only be 15 years old, but she has accomplished a lot in her 15 years here on Earth. From her website:

“…the songs are also featured on the Another Cinderella Story soundtrack, starring Selena Gomez and Drew Seeley”

“She’s already hot on the press trail stopping by high profile magazines such as Seventeen, Popstar!, J-14, M, Astro Girl, Quiz Fest, and Twist”

“Past credits include Off-Broadway roles in the beloved musical, Annie, where she played Molly as well as roles in Peter Pan and The Sound of Music. She has also appeared in national commercials for Sherwin-Williams Paint, Major League Baseball, and Cheerios and in comedy sketches on Saturday Night Live and the Late Show with David Letterman.”

As if all of that above is not enough, Tiffany is also involved with many charities, helping them out as much as she can. Good, clean lyrics and a positive role model!

Bella Sara Team Mom Review

Not too long ago, I had the opportunity to review The Bella Sara website and trading cards where there is this magical world of horses that girls (or boys if they are interested) can collect trading cards for and then go online and enter the code on the card and their horse comes to life on their computer screen.

Well Bella Sara has graciously allowed Team Mom reviewers the opportunity to review two new products; Bella Sara Miniatures Series 1 and Bella Sara Treasures.

I’ll start with the Bella Sara Miniatures Series 1. Here is a little info from Bella Sara:

– Bella Sara, the most successful trading card product ever created for girls, features horse-themed fantasy cards that offer positive, inspirational messages.

– Miniatures introduces a brand new product line of 20 velvety horses from the land of North of North for you to collect, trade display and cherish.

– Miniatures brings a tangible third diminsion to the magical horses of Bella Sara that can also be experienced through trading cards and in online and video game worlds.

– Included in each Miniatures pack are one random velvety horse, a random bonus code redeemable online, and a full-color checklist.

OK let’s get down to the nitty gritty. Here is what I liked about the Miniatures collection:

  • They’re cute. I could totally seem them on a little girls shelf in her room.
  • It’s a nice idea about trading them. Being that it is completely random as to which one you are getting when you buy the Miniatures, trading them insures that each little girl and her friends get the horses that they need and want.
  • The price is right (suggested retail price of $1.99) and makes for a wonderful stocking stuffer idea.

Here is what I did not like about the Miniatures collection:

  • The size. They are so tiny that I have visions of stepping on these things in the middle of the night, because really…what kid picks up ALL their toys ALL the time???
  • The velvety feel kind of creeps me out. Not sure why…but it does. My daughter, on the other hand, loved how they felt.
  • I don’t care for the fact that it is random when you purchase them as to which one you are actually getting. I know my kids would have melt downs if they were really wanting a particular one and ended up with one that they already had 5 of.
  • In each package, you have a sheet that shows all 20 of the horses offered with a little box that you can check off to keep track of which ones you have. I wish that there was a check mark or an X in the box showing which horse you got. It took me a minute to find one of the horses I had only because the color of the spots on the horse in the picture was not the same as the colors on the horse that I actually got.

Would I buy this for my daughter? I suppose if it was something she was totally into and would just die if she didn’t have it (haha), but I wouldn’t willingly buy them to get her interested into it. Maybe if they changed the size of them I would.

Bella Sara Miniatures Series 1 Collection becomes available on March 3rd.

Now for the Bella Sara Treasures. Now these, I really like. These are like the Pokemon cards for girls. Only each card has an inspirational message on it. For example, one of the cards I got says “listen to those who encourage you, and encourage those who listen”. I think it is VERY important to instill positive messages into our daughters and what better way than with something that they are interested in, is popular with their friends, and fun to collect and play?

A little from Bella Sara:

– Treasures is the eighth series in the popular Bella Sara line, which has sold more than 55 million cards to date.

– Treasures brings a new element to with more printable activities including bonus codes, coloring pages, wallpapers, a poster and jigsaw puzzles.

– This series features rare jewels, amazing natural wonders, historical artifacts and fantastic magical items, to explore and cherish.

– Starting February 27th through April 30th, the website, is giving fans a chance to win an exciting Treasure Hunt Party of their very own!

Like I mentioned above, I really really like the Bella Sara trading cards, specifically the Treasures series. Other things I liked about the Treasures Series are:

  • The price. The suggested retail price is $2.99, making the Treasures Series a nice stocking stuffer, addition to a birthday present, etc.
  • The positive messages that each card has.
  • The ability to enter a code online and bring your horse on your card to life.
  • The stickers and tattoos that come with each Treasures pack add even more fun to the Bella Sara collection.

I can’t say there is honestly anything that I did not like about the Treasures collection. My kids (son and daughter) both love the cards. My daughter more so than my son, but that is to be expected. My daughter puts them in her play purse and carries them all over the house.

The Bella Sara Treasures trading cards are also available on March 3rd.

Safety Caps…Review and GIVEAWAY!

One of the first things I did when I found out I was pregnant with my first child was baby proof my house. I bought those little plug covers and covered every outlet in my house. Never once did I think that the item I was putting into my outlet to protect my child, could be potentially dangerous. Neither did George DeCell, creator of Safety Caps. However, when his daughter Sage choked on one of those little plug covers, George knew he needed to come up with something that didn’t cause another child to experience what he and his daughter did. That’s when Safety Caps came about.

Immediately upon receiving the Safety Caps in the mail, I compared them to the standard plug covers. Almost immediately it was clear that the Safety Caps were a much better and much safer product. Aside from being larger, it is also clearer than the standard outlet covers. This is a huge plus. My kids are constantly trying to pull those things out of the plug. Which kinds of defeats the purpose of covering the plug (well…somewhat). The clearer plug literally blends in very nicely with any color outlet cover.
