Would it be weird to get life size photo cutouts of my husband and I made and position them to face Bella’s bed so when she wakes up periodically she will see us and go back to bed? Trust me…I am serious. That child has given us a run for our money where sleep is concerned, since the day she was born. Not only did she NEVER nap (and believe me, I was the queen of sleep routines with my kids) unless we were in the car, but she also slept with my husband and I since she was four months old. Now I know, bringing her to our bed was our fault, but when you are a walking zombie (literally)…you do what you have to do.
We finally have her in her own bed (shes been sleeping there for several months now) but every night we hear the words “will you lay with me?” and the answer is always the same “Bella I will sit right here” (which is on the floor near her bed). She falls asleep, we leave the room. If she wakes up, one of us sits on the floor until she falls back asleep.
It’s.getting.old. I’m thinking we should get her a sound machine or something like that (anyone know where to look for one or a good one to get?) since for pretty much most of her life she has slept with a lot of noise around her.
And yes I did Google where to find a place to make a life size photo cutout of myself…I’ll let you know if I find one in case anyone else is interested 😉

We use the Conair sound machine from Target. I think you can only order it online though. My 2yo is a horrible sleeper, but he’s gotta have his white noise. One Step Ahead has the same thing only more expensive.

I know how you feel. None of my kids are good sleepers. We got the kids sound machines from Wal-Mart and now they won’t sleep without them. We have to have them turned up all the way. It’s pretty cheap too…I think it was $13. It looks like a silver alien. Hope that helps you out a little.

You know those “Fat Heads”, life size cutout of sports people? That is what you need. I feel for ya. I have 2 that sleep with me and they are getting too big for that.

Oh my gosh, all I see is a lot of freaking out. “Daddy!!! Why aren’t you blinking? Why aren’t you moving? AGGHHH, you’re 2D!!” WWAAAHHHH!!!! and then she’s back in your bed and won’t sleep in her own bed until she’s 12 and then she’ll still have nightmares and won’t be able to go to the movies for fear of the cardboard cutouts.
Maybe I’m stretching it a little 😉 The sound machine (along with some reward for being able to not have Daddy sit with her) seems like the best idea.
Thanks for sharing with BPOTW!

I’m right there with you. My 4 year old has never slept through the night and is still in my bed! I know it’s lazy, but it’s the only way for any of us to get some sleep.
We did try a noise machine from Walmart and it did the trick for a few weeks. Best of luck!

hahaha BPOTW! I could totally hear my little one saying something like “why aren’t you blinking daddy?”

Sounds like a good solution to me, but what do I know, I am not a mom yet and when my animals would wake me in the middle of the night wanting to play, I put them outside. 😉 Someday I might be able to give advice in the area, but not now.
