One of the things I have always wanted to do, and will do one of these days, is a walk for Breast Cancer. I actually was planning on joining a team a few years ago, but I ended up dislocating both knees and that kind of threw a wrench in the plans.
The New York walk is truly a tour of the Big Apple. On Saturday you start out at the Hudson River’s Pier 84. From there you head to the USS Intrepid, to the Upper West Side, then to Greenwich Village, and SoHo. Then you will head over the Brooklyn Bridge and stop by DUMBO before heading to Manhattan over the Manhattan Bridge. Next you walk through Chinatown, the lower East Side and into the Upper East Side. Then you will rest for the night at Randall’s Island home.
On Sunday you will go back to the Upper West Side and past Central park. Then you head through Midtown, passing by Rockefeller Center and Bryant Park. Finally you head back to the Hudson river and finish up back at Pier 84.
The 26.2 miles you walk on Saturday and the 13.1 miles you walk on Sunday are so worth it. Because you take the time to do this, men and women across the country can get medical care regardless of whether or not they can pay. Not only that, but research teams can work on finding a cure.
Here’s a video of just how awesome this walk really is:

I'm not in NY these days, but I do the annual Race for the Cure here in NC in June, and I used to do the Revlon Run/Walk in NYC in May, I believe. Good for you for promoting the efforts and encouraging people to get on out and move for this great cause!
