One of my most FAVORITE movies of my entire childhood is E.T. Most people say the movie scared them. I don’t see why…unless it’s that scene where the people in the hazmat suits storm the house. I do remember that part scaring me…mostly because I had no clue what was going on. They didn’t really explain that too well. If you are not familiar with the movie (do you live under a rock???), here is a little synopsis:
When an imaginative boy meets a lost alien, it is the beginning of one of cinema’s most endearing friendships, as Elliot (Henry Thomas) helps the marvelous creature he calls E.T. find his way back home before government agents capture him.
E.T. came out in 1982 and it was the biggest blockbuster of the year…it was #1 over 16 different weekends! Even now, in 2012, E.T. is the fourth most successful movie of all time in the United States! E.T. was nominated for nine Academy Awards! The cast includes:
- Drew Barrymore
- Henry Thomas
- Dee Wallace
- Peter Coyote
On October 9, 2012, the all new digitally remastered E.T. will be released! The Blu-ray combo pack also includes Ultra Violet, a DVD and a digital copy of the movie. The bonus features on the Blu-ray include:
- The E.T. Journals: retrace the day-to-day experience of creating E.T.
- Steven Spielberg & E.T.: Interview with Steven Spielberg
- Deleted Scenes: Two scenes from the 2002 version of the film (had no clue there was a 2002 version!)
- A Look Back: Special look back at the making of the movie.
- The E.T. Reunion: Cast and filmmaker reunite to discuss the film and it’s impact.
And SOOOOOO much more!!
E.T.: The Green Planet
Universal is also partnering with leading independent games publisher Chillingo to publish E.T.: The Green Planet for the iTunes App Store. Inspired by a novel based on a story by Steven Spielberg, players travel with E.T. to his home planet, explore and build extraordinary intergalactic botanical gardens, and share their experiences with friends!
**I received a copy of this Blu-ray for the purpose of this review.
