This summer I had the WORST experience with customer service I’ve ever had. If you didn’t read about my debacle with T-Mobile, you can do so here (and here and here). Let’s just say, the way that company chose to handle things in the beginning was rotten. I was a long time customer of their company, you would think they would treat people that stay with them a little better. But it wasn’t until I went all the way to the top and emailed the CEO, that I finally got results. But it was too late. That company was ruined for me and I would never use them again.

However, just like I feel it is my duty to share poor experiences with companies so other people are taken advantage of, I think it is my duty to share the positive as well!! Back in September when the glorious iphone 5 came out, I bought one. I had never had an iphone before (other than the old one I used to transfer me from the crappy T-Mobile service to Verizon) so I was looking forward to having one that had all the bells and whistles. Now I know some people have had a lot of issues with the iphone 5…I’ve had ZERO! None at all. Though, the people I hear having issues are the ones that have other cell carriers, so maybe that is the reason? Anyway…when I started using the old iphone, I purchased an OtterBox case to use on it. Not only did I like the iphone, but I loved my Otterbox case. It was pink…my only complaint, the inside rubber on the case was white so my make-up rubbed off on it.
So when I got my iphone 5, I knew that I wanted another OtterBox case for it. My phone always felt protected and I liked how it felt in my hand. I couldn’t find them in stores, so I ordered one from Verizon. It was supposed to be dark purple on the outside and light purple on the inside. It came purple/black. I asked Verizon about it and they basically shrugged their shoulders. Being that I get a discount with Verizon, I just sucked it up and went with it. Well the black rubber on the sides started rubbing off. I called OtterBox and they asked me to send a picture of it and once they received it, they would send me a new one. I asked if it was possible to get the purple for the inside since the black looks weird. They were confused about the fact that I got a purple/black one and said “absolutely”!
Two weeks went by and I finally got my new OtterBox case in the mail. I was excited…it was going to be purple and purple…so much prettier than purple and black (it’s the small things, people)! When I opened the package I saw that it was purple and pink. I got a little excited (I love pink) until I realized it wasn’t the same case. I bought the commuter case, not the defender case. So I called OtterBox. Right away the customer service rep apologized for the mix-up. She looked in the computer, saw that I was supposed to get the commuter case and set it up to send me a new one. I asked her if a shipping label was going to be sent to me for the defender case and she told me to just keep it.
Now it was not necessary for her to tell me to keep it. I would have happily sent it back once my new one came, but now I have a back-up case…which I have been using. I like it, but it is a tad bulkier than the commuter. Once that commuter case comes, I’ll switch to it.

They may cost a bit more up front, but your devices will be protected and if anything happens to, you have the peace of mind that the OtterBox company not only stands behind their products, but they also care about their customers and have excellent customer service.
