“This day I will marry my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with, love”
That was the quote and theme of my wedding 10 and a half years ago and it still holds true today…I definitely married my best friend!
In the past, Valentine’s Day has always been “just another day”. Sometimes we celebrated it, sometimes we didn’t. It wasn’t because we fell out of love or anything like that, but it just wasn’t important. We always said, “why get all crazy to show how much you love someone on one day when you should show it every day”. However, now that my husband has a job that keeps him in another state every day of the week and I don’t see him as often, I want to go all out on holidays like Valentine’s Day. We both know how much we love each other every other day, but why not have a special day…just for us?!?
This year we are celebrating Valentine’s Day this upcoming weekend. Our kids are having a sleepover at my in-laws house (yay!) so I have our entire day planned out! After we drop the kids off, we are heading to a pottery painting place. I think it will be fun to paint something together that when I look at, I will think of him (and I am thinking about painting a vase that he can randomly send me flowers to put in…hint, hint Dan!). After painting pottery, we will have dinner at Red Robin (his favorite place) and finish the night with a movie (what should we see??).
Dan is always asking me what I want for different holidays. I never know what to tell him. Until I saw this canvas:
I have a big open wall in my living room that I would love to put a bunch of pictures of the kids, Dan and I. I think this canvas would be perfect to hang above the display of pictures! However, knowing my husband, he will want to get me something along these lines:
I like that he can personalize this necklace to say whatever he wants it to say and I’ll always be wearing it close to my heart! Whichever gift option he chose to go with, he needs to make sure he uses a coupon code…it’s nice to save money wherever you can!
What are you doing for Valentine’s Day??

We’re just like you. We don’t go all big just because it’s Valentine’s Day but will do something …even if it’s just leaving a love letter quietly in another’s pocket/purse or sneaking a little prezzie in.
PS I love that canvas-“All because two people fell in love” Super cute!

I love that canvas!!
I never know what to tell my husband for gifts either. This year I am asking that he clean my oven! 😉

Whatever we do for Valentine’s Day will be simple and inexpensive. I love that canvas. I might have to copy cat you.

Awww, it sounds like you have a great day planned. You should go see Safe Haven – it opens on V-Day and I’ve heard it’s good for guys and girls! I hope you have a good time!

I’m not quite sure what we’re doing yet, but I know that she reads your blog too so I can’t give away any surprises. 😉

We haven’t made any specific plans yet, probably just go out to dinner. It is also our 18th Anniversary. Maybe we will plan something special for our 20th in 2 years.

Usually we celebrate BUT we have a trip to Vegas soon and we are going to do it then and save our pennies this week

I’m dying to go to Vegas. I’ve never been. We were supposed to go for our 10th anniversary, but my husband had been out of a job for 8 months so it wasn’t in the cards.
I now want to go for our 13th anniversary! Lucky 13!

My husband and I are very low key for Valentine’s Day. I would like to do something fun this year but more than likely we’ll watch movies and have burgers, lol. Have fun! I know that having time to yourself will make it special.

We are saving money for a house down payment so we probably are not going out. I am pregnant with our first child so we go out pretty often. I think we will go out for holidays when we have kids.
