*This is a partnered post with The Motherhood for Curiosityville. All opinions are 100% my own.
We are VERY close to summer vacation and while I want the kids to have fun this summer, I don’t want them to forget everything they did in school this year. Our school sells summer workbooks and while I’ve purchased them in the past, I am thinking about not purchasing them this year. My son is going to summer school so he will be getting a lot of extra practice and work. Bella will be starting first grade so she really doesn’t need a lot of work.
When I was asked to check out a new website called Curiosityville, I instantly said yes! This site, geared for children ages 3-8, looked perfect for Bella! She can play and explore on this site, all while keeping her brain active and stimulated!
What is Curiosityville?
Well…like I said above, Curiosityville is a website geared for children ages 3-8. Once logged on, the children are able to pick the character they would like to play with. Each character has a different role:
- Dr. Rosie teaches children about their brains
- Ms. Ruby is a teacher from England
- Pablo is an artist
- Joe is the mayor
- Jack is a policeman
- Olive is a chef that loves to dance and cook
Once you sign in, your child has the opportunity to choose the character of their choice. Bella really likes to use Pablo. After a character is chosen, your child has the opportunity to choose different things in the room to learn from. They will know which items they can click on because they sparkle.
Now if you look at the lower left hand side of the picture, you will see a book that is sparkling. When you click on that book it takes you to a word game that looks like this:
The first thing you need to do with this game is patch the cloud animal with it’s cutout. Once you’ve done that, you then add the missing letters to the words. Games like this are one of Bella’s favorites!
There is an awards page that encourages children to keep going. This is exactly what Bella needs. She is very competitive and when she seems that she is missing something, she will work extra hard to earn it all.
For the Parents
This is by far my most favorite part of this site! There is a section for parents where we can see exactly what our kids are doing. But we don’t have to necessarily log on to check it out…we are sent an email when our child is done playing to tell us how long they were online, what they did, and how they did!
Our Thoughts!
We love this site! Bella is always asking to log on and play. I really like that she wants to play on this educational site just as much as she wants to play on Club Penguin or another site like that, which really has zero educational value. Another great feature in the parents section are all the at home extra activities you can do that goes along with what she played that day/week. This content changes weekly, so there is plenty of stuff to do to keep us busy on rainy days this summer! I definitely recommend Curiosityville…as parents, we all know how hard it is to get our children to do something “school related” over the summer, Curiosityville makes it easy!
What do you do to keep your kids from losing what they learned during school?

This looks like an awesome site! It would be perfect for all of my 3 older kids.
We love Ooka Island, Always Icecream, and Clever Dragons online right now. for keeping them busy!

Yep…that is a rule in our house. I just wrote out the rules for the summer and every night before bed, the kids will each be reading.
