One of the things I miss, now that my kids are older, is carving pumpkins. Now, if they heard me say that (or read this blog), they would tell you that is not true. Which, is not entirely untrue. When they were younger, I did struggle with getting into pumpkin carving because there always seemed to be a huge mess. Not to mention, I wasn’t that great a carving them, so I could never do the elaborate designs my son especially wanted. My husband, on the other hand, is very patient and able to take his time and his pumpkins always turn out really well. How to carve a pumpkin means different things for everyone. This post will have a bunch of different ideas from super elaborate to very easy!

Bella is pretty simple in what she likes, but I know that she would be thrilled to have a Hello Kitty pumpkin:
Zachary, on the other hand, will want something much more difficult. I could see him asking my husband to help him with this particular design…
Personally, I like simple, yet funny. That’s why these next couple pumpkins are something I would totally do!!
Get it?!? Â Pumpkin pie! OK so this particular pumpkin would totally make me a nerd!
Now this is one Bella would like! She just learned “Trick or Treat, smell my feet. Gimmie something good to eat” this year and thinks it’s absolutely hilarious. She even tried to teach my two year old nephew…that…not so hilarious!
How do you usually carve your pumpkins? And most importantly, do you bake the pumpkin seeds??

They look great. When my son was little (he’s 13 now), he begged me for YEARS to carve a pumpkin. I finally gave in and we got ready to do it. Well, after I cut into it and began pulling the goo out, he started gagging and ran into the house. I sat there, covered in pumpkin guts, seeing into the future that this child will NEVER become a doctor. As for baking the seeds, while the Pinterest mom in me would love to, it’s so much easier to buy them from Trader Joe’s! :-))
