My husband is Lebanese and when we got together, I tried A LOT of new foods that I had never had before, some I had never even heard of! There were two things I did not like. Grape leaves and hummus. I tried to like those two things. I really did. But after a bunch of times trying them at different occasions, I just knew I wasn’t going to like it. Until I tried this hummus recipe below.

Years and years later, we were in Sams Club and I saw roasted red pepper hummus and spicy hummus. I like spicy things so I told my husband that I wanted to try it again. And guess what…I loved it! I liked hummus…so long as it was flavored, preferably with something spicy!
Today I wanted to try making my own hummus. So I looked at a few different recipes to see how you make it and then tweaked it to how I would like it (like a little less lemon juice than normal…I don’t like that lemony flavor as much)Â and then I spiced it up with Sriracha Sauce!
Sriracha Hummus Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 can of garbanzo beans
- 3 TBS lemon juice
- 1 1/2 TBS Tahini
- 3 tsp roasted garlic (jar stuff is what I used)
- 1 TBS Olive Oil
- Salt, to taste
- Sriracha Sauce, to taste
Directions
- Open the can of garbanzo beans and drain. Make sure you save a little of the liquid.
- Put all of the ingredients, except for the salt and Sriracha sauce, in a food processor (I used my Vitamix because that is all I have).
- Mix on low speed until you have the desired consistency. If you would like it a little creamier, add some of the liquid from the garbanzo beans…a little at a time!
- Put the hummus in a bowl and add a little salt and Sriracha Sauce, until you get your desired flavor. I think I added maybe a half a teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon of Sriracha sauce.
- Chill before serving, but you don’t really have to…I just like mine colder!
Doesn’t this hummus recipe look good?!? I love the spiciness of it and the fact that it is super easy to make! You can serve it with pretzel crisps like I have, pita bread, veggies…whatever you would like to dip in it!
