This summer, we decided to forgo a typical summer vacation. My husband travels a lot for work and the last thing he wants to do when he’s home is travel some more. So instead of a traditional vacation, we told the kids were were going to have a “Staycation”. There are a lot of things in our immediate area that the kids have been dying to do, so we decided to make a list and start tackling that list.
One of the nice things about doing a “Staycation” is that you don’t have the expense of staying in a hotel every night and you don’t have to eat out every meal, as well. That saves you a lot of money! Our “Staycation” list includes the following items:
- Dave and Buster’s
- The drive-in
- The roller skating rink
- The zoo
- A picnic in the park
- Music in the park
- Family hike on the nature trails
- Family movie night
- Family game night
Smucker’s can help with our “Staycation” snacks! With the exception of Dave and Busters and the roller skating rink, all of the places on our list allow for us to bring our own food. Which is a BIG help in the saving money department! After hitting up our local Walmart, I picked up some amazing snacks!
The Smucker’s Uncrustables are awesome! If you haven’t bought them yet, you have to! They are perfect for on the go! We are also trying to encourage better snacking in our house. My kids are carb addicts. I am forever telling them to grab a piece of fruit or some veggies, but if they can’t dip it, they don’t want it. That’s were the Jif To Go comes in handy! They can dip celery, bananas, apples, basically anything they want! And shhh…don’t tell the kids, but the chocolate cups are mine!
I’m really hoping the weather holds out this week so we can take the kids on a picnic and to the music in the park. If it doesn’t, then we will have our family movie and game nights! Whatever we do, I know we will have fun and have great snacks, courtesy of Smucker’s, to keep our belly’s happy!
Oh…and if I have time AND if I can find some gluten free rolled oats (I’m the gluten free eater in this house), I am going to use the Smucker’s Strawberry Jam to make a delicious cobbler!
Stay tuned to hear more about our “Staycation” with Smucker’s!
