Christmas is right around the corner and I have to admit, I’m having a really hard time getting in the Christmas spirit. The weather has been really strange here in Michigan. Normally by this time of year we have single digit temps or even negative temps. Now I really don’t want it that cold, but it’s really weird having such mild temps. I think that, plus the lack of a Christmas tree being up right now, is really making it hard to get in the Christmas spirit. Today, however, Bella and I made Christmas Tree Rice Krispies treats and that helped slightly!

As a child…OK as an adult too, Rice Krispies treats have always been a favorite of mine. Unfortunately, due to a gluten intolerance, I can no longer eat them <insert Sad Face>. However, that didn’t stop me from wanting to participate in this campaign. Not only does Bella LOVE Rice Krispies treats, but the campaign itself is great.
This holiday season, in partnership with Toys for Tots and food art innovator Mister Krisp, Rice Krispies “Treats 4 Toys” is making it easy for mom to embrace the spirit of the season by making delicious treats with their families that also make a difference. For every Rice Krispies Treat you share, using #Treats4Toys, Rice Krispies will donate a gift to Toys for Tots to help give a little joy to a child in need.
Isn’t that great? I love Toys for Tots and was very excited to work on this campaign to help children in need have a wonderful holiday season! So Bella and I decided to make our own Rice Krispies Treats today. She had the great idea to make a Christmas Tree!
To Make Christmas Tree Rice Krispies Treats
- Make your Rice Krispies treats according to the recipe on their website. Note: Once the marshmallows are melted add 5 drops of green food coloring. When you add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallows, add a few more drops of green food coloring.
- Press the Rice Krispies Treats into a 13x9x2 pan and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes.
- Use your Christmas tree cookie cutter to cut out the Christmas trees.
- Decorate and eat!
Super cute! You can use a cookie cutter or this great 3D Christmas Tree Mold! Whatever you choose to do, they will turn out great!
