I love to read. In fact, I made a goal for myself to read 50 books this year and I hit my goal last night! I’m pretty excited about that. Reading is that one thing I do that can allow me to escape from it all. I could be having the worst day ever and the second I pick up a book (or my Kindle), I immediately forget what is bothering me and fall into whatever story I am reading. When I heard that there was going to be an eighth Harry Potter book, I pre-ordered it, but I wasn’t sure what it would be like. I couldn’t help, but wonder if J.K. Rowling was trying to hold on to something that has since run it’s course. You know how that goes. But I had all seven other books. Of course I needed to buy the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child book.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was released on July 31, 2016. Since I pre-ordered mine from Amazon, it took a couple days to get to me. When I tell you I stalked my mailbox, I totally did. It finally arrived two days ago. I immediately opened it up and started reading. Being that it was a script, I was a little unsure of how I would like the book, but I quickly realized I love reading scripts! Since I am a fast reader and, as a result of that, I tend to skim some parts and end up having to go back to see who is talking. It drives me crazy when I do that. However, being in a script form, I never had to go back! I always knew who was talking.
My Thoughts
I just now read some of the reviews on Amazon and I can’t believe some of the things people wrote about this book. I thought it was fantastic. In fact, it was one of my favorite Harry Potter books ever! I actually would really like this if it was made into a movie too. Series books are my favorite to read. I like to feel invested in the characters. One of the things J.K. Rowling does really well with the Harry Potter series is character development. Throughout the seven previous books, you really got to know all of the characters, no matter how major or minor the character was. I don’t know about you, but when book seven ended, I was incredibly sad. More info was needed. What was  life like after **Spoiler Alert** Voldemort dies. I wanted to see Harry’s kids and see what he and the rest of the gang do as adults. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child provides all that and more.
Above all, if you are a Harry Potter fan, then you need to do yourself a favor and pick this book up. If you are like me and you prefer to read the book on a Kindle (or you would like a copy of the books on your Kindle), you can get all eight books in a set for your Kindle! I don’t know if this play is coming to America or not, but I would love to see it on stage!

I picked this up the first day as well but haven’t read it yet. I am going away next week and I have some big reading plans for the pool.

I had this book IN MY HAND today at Sam’s club. But I decided to hold off until I get back from vacation.
