I was really excited to review this book, What’s Eating Your Child? The Hidden Connection Between Food and Childhood Ailments by Kelly Dorfman, MS, LND. You see, I have one child that is ADHD and I have already begun to make a connection between food and behavior issues. For example…dyes…they literally make my son go crazy. You know those red, white and blue popcicles? I try to avoid giving those to my son because not only are they loaded with sugar, but dyes as well. My daughter has a whole slew of issues from food allergies to stomach issues.

With the types of things my children have going on, I’ve read what seems like a billion books, but the thing is…they’re all the same. Filled with a bunch of scientific jargon that’s way over my head, but never really answers what I need it to answer for me. Until I read What’s Eating Your Child?: The Hidden Connection Between Food and Childhood Ailments. This book is written like a mystery. Kelly Dorfman challenges and empowers parents to become detectives and find the clues behind the health problems that ails their child. For example, in the book you may find:
Here, you’ll meet the toddler whose violent mood swings and frequent colds disappeared after dairy was removed from his diet, the 8 year old whose persistent rash was cured by a fish oil supplement, the tiny adolescent who rapidly shot up from the bottom growth percentile after taking zinc, and many other incredible stories.
Some of the many ailments that can be improved through proper nutrition include:

I bet you see at least one thing on there that coincides with your child. Shoot I see several that I would like to read for myself. One of the easiest things we can do to try and help our children is by changing their diet. What does it hurt to try? Nothing…but what we can gain is huge. I highly recommend you give the book a shot. It may or may not work for you to change your child’s diet, but you never know until you try.
