I cannot believe that this Monday is my son’s 5th birthday. I know everyone says it, but I can totally remember the day I had him and cannot believe that in three short months, he will be heading off to Kindergarten. He gets bigger and bigger every single day. Whether it is the way he looks or the way he acts, when I look at him I can still see the cute little boy who loved to be naked and laying on his stomach (I would totally post the cutest picture ever of him when he was about 10 months old but since there are internet perverts out there…you’ll just have to envision a cheeky baby with the cutest dimples and the biggest brown eyes ever laying on his tummy on the changing table as naked as the day he was born, with a HUGE grin on his face).
So Monday is his birthday. The one thing he told me he wanted more than anything was to have a birthday party with a bunch of kids. He truly is a little social butterfly that loves to play with other kids. Doesn’t matter if he knows them or not, he will try to get them to play with him. And he is genuinely nice to everyone. I know I am his mother and all and I tend to be a tad biased…but he is truly very nice to every single kid he meets. So because of that (and many other reasons) I wanted him to have the birthday party of his dreams. He is having his birthday party with other kids.
What he doesn’t know is…I rented him a huge bouncy house (which I about died at the price…but hey it’s not like I will be renting one of these every year…cause I’m totally not) so he and his cousins and friends can bounce their brains out until the city fireworks begin, which because of my totally cool mother in-law, we will be able to see them from the party because she and my father in-law have opened their house up for us to have his party there.
So on Monday, my 4 year old will no longer be 4. He’s already informed me that when he turns 5 that means he is a man and I have to make sure I remember that (his words). Excuse me while I go cry in the corner…my babies are growing up.
So Happy Birthday Zachary! You have truly been a delight (at times…I joke!) to raise and I look forward to the years to come. But despite your request that I remember you are a man now, you will always be my baby.
Here are a few pictures of Zachary over the years…
