Yea so I had my first encounter with my dogs killing an animal in my yard and bringing me the “present” today. I freaked. I could hear my Golden Retriever, Zoe barking like crazy and jumping all over the backyard, but thought nothing up it. Until…..until I looked out the window and saw he holding a rabbit in her mouth, tail wagging super fast (obviously pleased with herself)…me…not so pleased.
I’m warning you now…the image you about to see is graphic and real. Viewer discretion is advised.
I literally freaked. At first I thought the rabbit was still alive. I mean…look at those eyes. But, sadly…it was not alive. Then the real freaking out started. I was so afraid I was going to see Zoe eat it and that…that was something I knew I couldn’t handle. I called my husband, which was stupid since he was still in St. Louis at the time. He got a hold of my sister in-laws boyfriend who then came over and helped me dispose of the body. But not before Zoe decided to start pulling the fur off it like she does with any and all stuffed toys she has.
I am soooooo glad there was no blood. I knew that was something I would not have been able to handle. I’m also thinking that Zoe did not really mean to kill it. She kept dropping it and poking it with her nose as if saying “coming, run”
And don’t even get me started on my hound dog Ruby. She cowered in the corner of our yard terrified to walk near that rabbit. She’s a hound dog for pete sake. Don’t hound dogs hunt rabbits? I mean technically Zoe huts birds I though.
Well at any rate, this was definitely something I don’t EVER want a repeat

sniffle…poor bunny. That's almost as bad as what our cat did years ago…except he brought the bunny, barely alive and bloody in our backdoor and left it under the kitchen table. 🙁
