It’s that time of year again…the time when kids come home from school and their noses are running, their coughing and you are doing all you can to keep your house clean and sterilized so that it doesn’t spread through the rest of the family. And if you’re anything like me…my kids bring it home and I am the one who ends up getting the sickest.
Well Lysol, a brand I have worked with before on Diaries of a Domestic Goddess, has teamed up with Celeb mom Cheryl Hines to spread the Lysol Mission for Health. This mission is being promoted throughout the U.S. through the following programs:
- New Moms: First-time moms will be provided with educational resources about how to keep mom and her infant healthy with information available at OBGYN offices, pediatrician offices, on www.lysol.com/missionforhealth and other online communities.
- Schools: According to the CDC, nearly 22 million school days are lost each year to the common cold alone. LYSOL is empowering schools, through a program developed with a leading pediatrician to teach healthy habits to children and help improve school attendance. The LYSOL Blue Ribbon School Attendance Challenge will reward schools for low absenteeism.
- Disaster Relief: LYSOL has partnered with Save the Children, a global non-profit humanitarian and disaster relief organization, to support the needs of families whose heal and safety are affected by disasters.
LYSOL is running the Mission for Community Health contest where participants are invited to enter to win prizes up to $10,000 to be donated to their local community organizations. All you need to do to enter is visit www.lysol.com/communitycontest and share videos, photos or stories about how you have made a difference in your community. You entries will be judged on the how you’ve helped improve the health in your community and the possible impact of your efforts.
To help jumpstart your efforts, LYSOL has so graciously decided to give one Diaries of a Domestic Goddess reader a container of their own LYSOL wipes to start disinfecting their house and keep everyone healthy this holiday season and into the new year. To enter my contest, read on below…

I worked as a shelter manager for the Red Cross when an F5 tornado killed over 100 people in my neighborhood in Florida. Working disaster relief makes you feel so good about life. I love helping people.
