My friend Trisha over at Momdot recently wrote about her dream date (be sure to also check out her nursery make-over post and VOTE!) and it got me thinking about my own dream date and all the things I would like to do, where I would like to do it, and whom I would like to do it with…JUST KIDDING! Of course my dream date would be with my husband!
Not too long ago, my husband and I were at a family wedding. Alone. The kids stayed with my parents for the weekend. Dan and I got up and went to breakfast together before heading out of town for the wedding. I didn’t realize how long it had been since we’ve had a meal…at a restaurant…alone together. It was nice! The rest of the weekend was a blast. I truly enjoyed spending all that alone time with him. It even got me thinking that we had to do that more often. Maybe make it a habit to have a date night once a month…but more importantly, I would like the two of us to go away a couple times a year, just the two of us.

But…for my dream date. It would take place on a beach…I want to be able to hear the waves hitting the shore, smell the salt in the air, and feel the wind whipping my hair as we sit and stare out at the water. Maybe we’re talking…maybe we’re just sitting there in each others arms enjoying just being together. I envision us sitting off in our own rocky area…kind of like the area where Dylan McKay used to surf before high school (yes I realize I just made reference to 90210 in my dream date scenario).
I’ve never had chocolate covered strawberries before, so while we sit in our private, rocky area on the beach we can have chocolate covered strawberries and champagne…though we won’t do any of that silly wrap your arms all up and feed each other the strawberries and champagne…that always makes me laugh when I see people do that!
After our strawberries and champagne, I would love to just lay on our blanket and wait for the sun to set. I’ve never witnessed a sunset before. Sure I’ve seen the sun going down behind the houses in my neighborhood or been driving and seen the sun going down, but I’ve never witnessed a true sunset in a romantic setting like that. So on my dream date, that’s exactly what we will do. I’ll be sure to have someone on standby to take a picture of us…something that looks a little like this:

Now isn’t that a romantic picture???
And finally, to end my romantic dream date, we’ll head into town had grab a burger and shake at the Peach Pit!
