One of the things I wish I did more of was add more pictures to my blog posts. Aside from when I blog about personal things and add personal pictures of my family, I am always confused as to where I can get pictures from. Sure I have links to a few FREE stock photo sites, but I never and seem to find a picture that I want to use…or I totally forget to go there (must get better at that). For example, I was doing a post about Angelina Jolie once and I went to a free stock photo site, searched for Angelina Jolie and it pulled up an Angelina Jolie look alike. So not what I was looking for. But the last thing I want to do is steal someones copyrighted photo…you know the real photo of Angelina Jolie and be in trouble for it. That wouldn’t be cool.

So what’s a blogger to do? Well Fotolia.com gives us an option that is very doable! Fotolia provides the necessary compromise between the photographers and the buyers. They provide photographers with a commission for their photos while lowering the price for the buyers…making it easier for more people to afford the pictures.
How it works:
Fotolia is the first worldwide social marketplace for royalty free stock images, allowing individuals and professionals to legally buy and share stock images and illustrations. Fotolia offers the largest image bank of free and affordable royalty free photos and illustrations perfect for any medium, web or print.
Photographers and designers constantly update Fotolia with thousands of new photos and illustrations each day, while photographers and designers receive commission from each photo sold and revenue from advertising on the free section.
CREDIT SYSTEM
Credits are Fotolia’s form of currency. Credits are used to buy images on the website. (Credit from $0.75)
Image prices are given in credits; the price depends on the size and use of the purchased image. Image prices are from:SUBSCRIPTION SYSTEM
Fotolia subscriptions allow you to download between 25 and 250 images a day during the period of your subscription.
Images downloaded using the subscription system are equal to the L size (4MP). The subscriptions are offered from:
As you can see, Fotolia is not only affordable, but it also provides you with guaranteed model releases (something that is not guaranteed on FREE sites) and a clear licensing agreement that is the same for each photo you pick in that particular category!!
You can try out Fotolia today by purchasing a subscription or a set of credits or you can be 1 of 5 lucky winners to win a FREE two week subscription!! Read below for details!
