Candy, from Serendipity Mommy, and I road tripped to Pigeon Forge, TN together for Brandcation. Luckily Kia was very generous in letting us borrow a 2012 Kia Rio SX for the trip. I was super excited to drive this car for a number of reasons:
- It was red. I’ve never had a red car before. I don’t think I’ve ever driven a red car before. Yes, I do realize I am easy to please!
- It had Sirius radio. 90’s on 9…can’t live without it!
- It was small…gas is expensive!
- I’ve liked every other Kia I’ve ever driven (the Optima and the Sorento)
We drove all the way to Dry Ridge, KY without ONCE turning on that Sirius radio I was so excited for! There was a lot of gabbing going on in that car! It was in Dry Ridge, KY that we filled the car up for the first time. The gas mileage was outstanding. The Kia Rio SX gets 30MPG city / 40 MPG hwy, on average. But…I got better than that…Check it out!
Here are a few other amazing stats about the 2012 Kia Rio SX:
- Will be the 1st non-hybrid Kia to feature idle stop and go (ISG) technology, which senses when the vehicle is stopped for a period and shuts off the engine to maximize fuel efficiency
- Named Best Subcompact and Family Sedan by Motor Week
- Dual front advanced airbags
- Dual front seat mounted side airbags
- Full length side curtain airbags
- 60/40 split fold down rear seats
- 85% of the Rio’s material’s are recyclable
- Push button start
The MSRP for the vehicle I drove is $20,545.
Overall, I liked driving this car. It was a little rough driving up the huge mountain to our cabin each night. I joked that the hamsters were not going to make it. But we managed! However, driving the 2012 Kia Rio SX where I live, where it is pretty flat, it drove great!
**Thank you again to Kia for letting me borrow this car for our Brandcation event.
