Being in Michigan, our weather is like our own inside joke. On any given day, there could be a 20 degree difference between the high and low. How in the world do you prepare for that? Our Halloween forecast was not looking all that promising. The wind was strong and cold, thanks to hurricane Sandy and rain was in the forecast. Since Bella just got off antibiotics for a sinus infect, taking her out in that weather is not something I wanted to do, but I was prepared to. Zachary had no desire to trick or treat outside because he hates to get cold. My husband was unable to go with us so I really had to figure out what to do so that both kids were happy.
After discussing our options at lunch, we decided to pick out candy for them at the store and then head to the mall. I had a Build a Bear gift card to use and I thought it would be something nice for them to do. They had a blast! While we were in Build a Bear, we found out that the mall was holding their own trick or treating event. So we joined in!
Earlier in the day, the kids had a Halloween parade and parties at their school. I wish I wore my Fitbit …I would have TOTALLY gotten all my steps in just by running from one class to another so I could help out in both classes! The kids were super excited to wear their costumes to school. I think Bella more so because she idolizes her brother so when he said he wanted to be a Michigan State football player, she knew she HAD to be his cheerleader!
At the end of the night, both kids told me this was the BEST Halloween they ever had! They got to do a lot of things and still trick or treat. They already asked me we can go back to the mall next year to trick or treat. I’m thinking my answer may be yes!!
