I’m diabetic. Aside from having to watch what I eat and check my sugar once a day, my diabetes has wreaked havoc on my mouth. You see, I have a horrible fear of the dentist. While I was pregnant with my daughter I was sick the entire time. So the thought of going to the dentist and having them put their hands in my mouth made me sick. Well not going once, was great. I had an excuse…however, six months later I had another excuse…my daughter was a newborn and I had a 2 year old…I didn’t have time. I used that excuse for the next 4 years. So not good. I also needed one of those Oral B toothbrushes that everyone was talking about.

I found out I was diabetic and started going to the dentist again, right around the same time. What I found out at the dentist was horrifying. I had 8 cavities. I was stunned and terrified. That meant I had to go to the dentist A LOT. My dentist and I figure that my diabetes played a huge roll in all those cavities. My body was over producing insulin. So I got the cavities fixed and at every appointment, the hygienist would tell me to get an electric toothbrush. I never did…until now.
Last Friday the Oral B Professional Care Smart Series toothbrush arrived on my doorstep. After setting everything up and charging the toothbrush, I ran upstairs to give it a try. When I was done, my teeth felt amazing! Better than they have ever felt. Here are some features about this toothbrush from the Oral B website:
- Separate, wireless SmartGuide helps maximize brushing performance
- Deep Clean mode removes up to 99.7% of plaque from hard-to-reach areas
- Pressure sensor stops pulsations when brushing too hard
- Gentle on teeth and gums
- Improves gum health better than Sonicare FlexCare
- Offers outstanding whitening and polishing in 3 weeks
- 5 modes: Daily Clean, Sensitive, Whitening, Massage, Deep Clean
- Oral-B is the #1 dentist-recommended toothbrush brand worldwide
I really can’t say enough good things about this toothbrush. I’ve tried every brushing mode so far. The Deep Clean mode is one that I will use once or twice a week. On a daily basis I think I will use the Daily Clean in the morning and the Whitening in the evening. I’m actually, for the first time in my life, looking forward to my next dentist appointment. I can’t wait for them to see how great my teeth look. One of my issues is my gums. I really couldn’t tell you the dental speak about them, but basically the dentist had wanted me to use an electric toothbrush to massage my gums daily. Now I have a brush that has a setting just for that!
If you are looking for a great gift this holiday season, I would highly recommend this brush. I really like everything about it. My only suggestion would be to have an on/off switch for SmartGuide. It seems kind of pointless to have that on all the time.
