Well…today was day two of the Military Diet. Yesterday I told you about the diet and what I ate. Today I woke up and I felt really shaky. I tested my sugar and while it was lower, it wasn’t bad. But boy was I hungry! Starving to be exact. But, since it’s a school day, I couldn’t eat just yet. I had to get the kids up and get their stuff together for school. The second I got home from dropping them off, I made my breakfast and enjoyed every bite!
Here’s what I ate today:
Breakfast
- 1 Egg
- 1 slice of Toast
- 1/2 Banana
I actually felt pretty good after breakfast. I could have used another egg, but that one egg was delicious! However, unlike yesterday, I didn’t stay full long. By 11 a.m. I was ready for lunch. But I held out until noon.
Lunch
- 1 slice of Cheddar Cheese
- 1 Egg
- 5 Saltine Crackers
Lunch was pretty disappointing (though I did buy wheat saltines and they were pretty good!)…I’m not much of a cheddar cheese fan, but I ate it. And just like breakfast, this did not fill me up for long.
Dinner
- 2 Hot Dogs (no buns)
- 1 cup Asparagus (sub. for whatever was here that I don’t like)
- 1/2 cup Carrots
- 1/2 Banana
- 1/2 cup Vanilla Ice Cream
First of all, have you ever had one cup of asparagus before? It’s A LOT of asparagus. Too much asparagus.
Tomorrow is supposed to be the last day of this diet and then I eat normal for the next four days and if I choose, I can do the Military Diet again. However, I’m done. As I sat here watching the results to American Idol, I was literally fighting with myself to not get up and grab something to eat. My head was pounding, I felt shaky and I was starving. And it got me thinking about what I was doing to myself. Don’t they say if you want to lose weight you need to eat small meals throughout the day? The key there being that you are EATING to lose? If I have to make myself feel like this to lose weight, then I don’t know that I want to lose it. Feeling shaky is the worst. So…I paused American Idol and I grabbed a banana and a little bit of peanut butter and I feel much better now.
I will say, I weighed myself this afternoon and I was down 3 pounds in a little over 24 hours on this diet. So it does make you lose weight…But, and I don’t know this for certain, I would be willing to bet that the weight I would have lost, I would gain right back as soon as I started eating like a normal human being. I am going to go back to what I know. Exercise and following the diabetic diet.
