I normally don’t jump on all the hype about movies. I know some people HAVE to see every single movie that is nominated each year just because it’s nominated. That’s not me. I mean, sure…it’s very impressive that a movie is nominated 108 times and has 47 total wins, but I see movies because they interest me.
From the moment I saw previews for the Steven Spielberg movie, Lincoln, I knew I had to see it. Dan and I had great intentions of seeing it in the theater, but…well, you know how that goes! But to be honest, I’m glad I got to see it at home . Several times throughout the movie, we stopped the movie to discuss what we were watching.
Inspired by the true-life events confronting Abraham Lincoln and his monumental moral and political challenge to amend the United States Constitution to permanently abolish slavery, Lincoln is a rich and compelling historical and human drama that has been hailed as one of the best films of the year.

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, you definitely want to pick it up! I know this is something I could watch over and over again. My son wants to watch it…though his reasons are a little different from mine. You see, his third grade class got to visit a one room school house and dress in clothes from that time and pick “old fashion” sounding names. My son chose Abraham Lincoln as his name. Why? Because he thinks that will make him president some day and he will have his face on money! So when he saw this movie, he asked me if he could watch it. While I won’t let him watch it now, I’m glad I have it to show him later! Here’s a picture of him dressed in his old fashion clothes:
