A week and a half ago, my husband and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary. Â I really wanted for the two of us to go away a weekend vacation, but with his work schedule, it just didn’t work out. Â So now I’m planning a little getaway so when he can take the time away from work, we can get away, just the two of us! One of my goals is to see all 50 states at least once in my lifetime. Â I am not a very good air traveler, so the thought of being on an airplane for like 12-24 hours is just too much for me. Â Plus, I really have no desire to leave this country. Â One place that has a lot to offer couples is Missouri!

What We would Do on Our Vacation
Ideally we would take a long weekend trip…Friday through Monday. Â That way he is only missing two days of work. Â Here are some things we would do:
Day One:
Since it is a vacation, just the two of us, our first morning I would want to sleep in and have breakfast in bed. Â But in the afternoon, I would want to visit Marvel Cave at Silver Dollar City. Â My parents took me to a cave when I was little and I remember being really amazed with it all.
In the evening, and I know my husband wouldn’t be too thrilled with this, but we have to do it…I want to visit the Pythian Castle. Â It is a certified as a haunted site. Â To be honest, I really would like to go to the haunted Missouri State Penitentiary Ghost Tour, but I know there is NO WAY I could get him to do that!
Day Two:
On this day I would want to get up early and visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder Historical Museum. Â I read all the books when I was little and I watched the television show every time it was on!
In the afternoon, I would surprise my husband with a round of golf at the Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course.
In the evening, I would like to spend it in the hotel room with take-out or room service and a movie. Â After spending all day golfing and walking around a museum, I’m sure we’d be pretty wiped out!
Day Three:
I went to Missouri when I was in Middle School with a friend and her mom and we visited the St. Louis Zoo and I loved it! Â So I would want to spend the day there. Â I specifically (and I bet I could dig through photos at my moms house) remember the chimps. Â We spent probably an hour watching them as kids!
After the zoo, we would head back to the hotel, shower and get dressed up for an evening at The Pierce Arrow Show!
Day Four:
You can’t visit Missouri without seeing the Arch and taking a ride to the top! Â So before heading home, I want to see the city from the very top of the Arch!
