I remember, when I was younger, there being a Donkey Kong cartoon on t.v. I used to watch it. I also remember playing the Donkey Kong Nintendo game. It was one of my favorite games. Being someone who very much enjoys playing video games, I really wanted that Donkey Kong game where you beat on a pair of drums. I never got it though. When I was asked if I wanted to review the new Donkey Kong Country movie due out on DVD on August 20, 2013 I knew I had to do it! I liked it so that means my kids will too!!
What I was Sent
- Donkey Kong Country DVD
- 80’s Party Supplies
As you can see, Bella very much enjoyed the 80’s supplies:
Bella especially loved the finger-less, fishnet gloves. She decided to wear one blue and one purple one. “It’s cooler that way”! Little did she know, when I was growing up in the 80’s, I often wore mismatched colors because I also thought it was cooler that way! Zack accommodated me by wearing the sunglasses on his head. He told me that was all he was willing to go because they were “not his style”. Whatever that means. She had me take one more.
About Donkey Kong Country
The cartoon series, based on the popular video game, is currently on DVD!
When King K. Rool’s last attack fails, he comes up with a new strategy to steal the Crystal Coconut by cloning Candy Kong with an evil robot. While trimming Donkey Kong’s hair, Candy Clone puts a hex on him that removes all of his strength, which now leaves the Crystal Coconut without a protector. With time running out, Cranky must come up with an antidote and get it to Donkey Kong before King K. Rool and his army succeeds in their next attack.
Donkey Kong Country can be found at Walmart, Target and other major retailers for $9.99!
Our Thoughts
I enjoyed the movie. It was only around 90 minutes long and it reminded so much of when I was much younger. When I asked the kids what they thought, they both said that hey liked the movie a lot. Though Bella did not like that Candy Kong had hairy legs. I explained that she was a gorilla and gorilla’s have hair all over. She still didn’t care for that. The other thing she asked me was why Donkey Kong and Candy Kong had the same last name. She wanted to know why Donkey Kong was in love with his family member. That…I didn’t really have an answer for! Luckily, she dropped it!
Overall it was very cute and something that I could see them watching again.
