Do you know what you will do when you retire?
I do! I was actually thinking about this the other day. My dad is retired and since retiring, my parents have gone on some really great trips. In fact, they just got back from an amazing trip to Alaska! They have been on so many cruises to so many different places, I do hope that some day I can go on some of those same trips…though, maybe not a cruise. Boats and I don’t really get along all that well.
But then I start thinking about my kids and college and how in the world are we going to pay for it all and still have something left over for our retirement. In talking with one friend they said “it’s simple…don’t pay for college”. But you know what, my parents paid for my undergrad degree…it was important to them to do that and I want to give the same chance to my kids.
Guaranteed Income–for Life
That caught your eye, huh? Who wouldn’t want to guarantee income for the rest of their life? I was reading an article on Yahoo Finance and it had all the details on how you can make the most of your retirement funds with annuities. Now I don’t know very much about annuities, but with companies like Genworth, I can get all of my questions answered and figure out which annuity is best for my family.
So…if you were to retire tomorrow, where would you go or what would you do? Me…I’d go to Hawaii! I’ve wanted to see Hawaii ever since the Brady Bunch went there. I actually have a goal to see every one of the 50 states at some point in my life.
Where would you go?

We definitely dont have enough yet to retire but we are hopeful that if we just keep plugging along we will get there!

You know, I paid for my entire undergrad by myself. My parents helped out with housing the first year, but I paid for it with scholarships and student loans. It actually taught me a lot and I worked hard in school. If I were to retire tomorrow, I’m like you, I’d want to travel! There are so many neat places that I’d love to go.

I agree with you on educating our kids through college. Our parents did that for us and we will do that for our kids. When we retire I would love to go to Israel. I’d love to go with the kids…but again when we’re retired too 🙂

I am no where near retiring NOR do I have the money saved up! haha! BUT, I would love to travel. I haven’t done a lot of it – and I think it will be a while til I do. But, planning is a definitely something we need to do!

I would love to go to Alaska. As would my wife I’m sure. (She’s a big fan of puffins!). But yeah, travelling is something I’d love to do whenever I get around to retiring, so saving the money now is definitely a necessity!
