I live in Michigan. If you know anything about Michigan, you know that our weather can be very screwy. Just the other day it was high 40’s. Today…7 degrees. “Well…it is Michigan”, is something you hear ALL THE TIME throughout the year. It doesn’t matter what season we are in. In the winter you have to be prepared for the summer (seriously…a couple years ago it was 80 degrees in the winter) and in the summer, you have to prepare for late fall temps. It’s how we roll.
Once winter started approaching, I started begging my husband for a remote start for my car. I park my car outside. Nothing ruins my day quicker than getting into a freezing cold car and not once warming up until I am to my destination. So I did what any sane wife would do…I started posting pictures and top ten lists on why I need a car starter on Facebook.
I took this picture from inside my car to show my husband how I cannot reach the center of my windshield. You see, my arms are insanely short. So for me to reach the center of the windshield I pretty much have to lean onto the car. Now who wants to do that? In the winter there is snow there and I’d end up all wet and dirty.
*I received a discount on the remote car start for the purpose of this post. All opinions are solely my own.
It just so happens that in my area, we have THE best car center around…Ric & Rocky’s Family Car Center. When Rocky found out that I was interested in a remote car start system for my car, he made sure to let us know everything we needed to know about this car starter. Now here’s the best thing. I lease my car…but that doesn’t matter! When my lease is up, I simply take my car over to Ric & Rocky’s Family Car Center, they will remove the remote car start system and then install it in my new car!
About the Remote Car Starter
I got the Audiovox APS901C Car Prestige Long Range Remote Start System. Here are some of the features:
- (2) 1-button code hopping mini transmitters
- Parking light flasher
- Superheterodyne glass mounted antenna with push button and LED
- Selectable run times 5, 10, 15, 20, 45 or 60 minutes
- Can be used with gasoline, diesel or hybrid engines
- Factory alarm bypass
- Push and hold unlock
- Safe start RF control (double push of the transmitter)
- On-board ignition relays
- Tach signal learning circuit
- (+) (-) safety shutdown circuits
- Telematics ports
- RF Prgrammable
- Data bus interface port
So what does all that mean? In terms that I understand…you press the transmitter two times in two seconds. The car will flash it’s parking lights and then start. If you get in the car and touch the breaks before inserting the key, the car turns off. My favorite part…I can be standing pretty far away and my car will still start. For instance, yesterday we were walking out the double doors into the lobby of Kroger and I pressed the remote car starter. My car was running when I walked outside!
Definitely get in touch with Ric & Rocky’s Family Car Center. They are the only place I go to get an oil change or anything car related. And shh…don’t tell my husband, but I heard they can install massage seats in your car! Now wouldn’t that be awesome?!? Heated massage seats…
Need your car detailed? No problem, they can do it!
Want your windows tinted? Stop on in!
Car sounds a little funny or a check engine light has turned on…go see Ric & Rocky!
