One of my biggest goals is to fully cut out everything processed and to quit sugar. I already do a pretty good job of not buying it, but then we have Easter or some other holiday and it’s like Peeps Palooza up in here. <–Peeps are my weakness. I like to open the package a bit so they get slightly hard…the kids get mad at me, but that means more Peeps for me!
In order for me to do this, I have to research the heck out of it. I am not a “jump in blind” kind of person. I would get overwhelmed and incredibly cranky because I’d be hungry since I didn’t know what to eat.

I’ve started my “Quit Sugar” campaign by checking out the book I Quit Sugar: Your Complete 8-Week Detox Program and Cookbook. This book has the steps on how to detox your body from the sugar. I like that it tells you to do something, but it also says WHY you should do it. For instance, if you are going to cut out sugar, you need to replace it with fat and protein. But why? Get the book and YOU can find out the answer to that question and many more!
Other things I like about this book:
- The recipes are not crazy fancy recipes…I don’t do recipes like that. We aren’t fancy folks.
- There are the least amount of ingredients possible…which is also good for me since I get bored easy and if there is a list of 20 ingredients, I give up.
- Most recipes are gluten and grain free!
- The recipes appear to be pretty fool proof (probably because they don’t have a ton of ingredients!)
