Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas Balcony Stateroom #7520

Everyone told me that when I go on a Royal Caribbean cruise I have to have a balcony room. To be completely honest, I really didn’t see the point. I mean, how much time would we be spending in our room, anyway? There is so much going on all over the ship, and if we really wanted to, we could go up to one of the decks and look out at the ocean, did we really need to pay extra to have a balcony?

The answer is simply, yes. You need to pay extra for that balcony room. Trust me.

*I cruised with Royal Caribbean International as part of a press group. While my cruise was complimentary, I did not receive any monetary compensation. All opinions are 100% of my own. My roommate, Kim and I were in stateroom #7520 on the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas ship. I was told that cruise ship rooms were tiny and to really limit what you bring. We each had two huge suitcases, plus a few other things…I was a tad nervous it wouldn’t all fit. As we walked down the narrow, as in I think I could have stuck both hands out and touched the walls on either side of me, narrow hallway and by the looks of the tiny doors, I really did not think our stuff would fit.

However…it all fit AND I didn’t find the rooms to be all the tiny either. They were small, don’t get me wrong, but they were comfortable to me. Take a look:

Before I go any further…do you see that glass coffee table? That is the coffee table that, in my Must Have Tips for the Cruise Newbie post, I recommended that you stick in the closet. Your shins will thank you! Now…back to the room! Look at it, it’s big enough! The bed can be broken into two twin beds or kept together for a king bed. Kim and I opted to have it split into two and our room steward, Lloyd hopped right on it and got those beds separated by the time we were back in our room later on.

Here’s what the rest of the room looked like:

Royal Caribbean Room Stats

  • Two twin beds that convert to a Royal King (72.5 inches wide X 82 inches long)
  • Sitting area with a sofa
  • Private balcony
  • Private bathroom
  • Vanity with an extendable working area
  • Minibar
  • T.V.
  • Phone
  • Safe for valuables
  • Room is 199 sq. ft
  • Balcony is 65 sq. ft

The bathroom was small, but I quickly realized that I didn’t need all that much room in the shower. However, I will not tell you how many times I hit my head on the shower door when I was trying to shave…*cough* every shower *cough*. A few tips about the bathroom:

  • Be careful how high you turn the sink on, especially when you are brushing your teeth…if you turn it on like you would normally at home, you will end up with water splashed all over the front of you. I promise.
  • When you turn on the shower, shut the shower doors slightly if you aren’t ready to get in just yet. If you don’t, you will get the floor all wet in the bathroom.
  • Your towels have a loop on the end for you to hang on the door of the bathroom. Kim and I kept finding our towels on the floor until we discovered this!
  • The shelf under the sink is a great place to store your toiletry bag.
  • The toilet is loud and it does sound like it is going to suck you in when you flush. Just close the lid, flush and leave. You will get used to the sound.

The Balcony

I told you before that it was totally worth it, and it really is. Each Royal Caribbean balcony has two chairs and a little table out there for you to have a drink and enjoy the view. I didn’t think I’d want to look overboard, but I got over that quickly. There is something super relaxing about having the wind whip your hair, the smell of the ocean and the sound of the waves. Some people saw dolphins, I saw jellyfish…it’s worth the price increase. Especially if you get seasick. The fresh air will help. But don’t take my word for it…take a look at this picture…

I just returned from LOTS 5 day cruise to Belize and Cozumel and had a balcony room (9606) the balcony was well worth the price. My nephew and his wife were next to us and we had our stewart open the balcony to make one big balcony. It was just so nice to wake up and be able to go outside in your PJ’s (plus eating room service out there)
