I am a football mom through and through. Every weekend you can find me in the stands cheering on my son, shaking my cow bell like crazy. Shaking it so much so that I broke it last weekend; split it right in two! When I was asked if I would like to have the opportunity to view a movie that will be in theaters on October 24th, it was an easy answer…YES! This movie is called 23 Blast, which is the true story of Travis Freeman and Jerry Baker.
*I was given the opportunity to view this movie early. I was compensated for my time*
Movie Synopsis
23 Blast features Travis Freeman, a typical teenager growing up in a small town in Kentucky, who is a local hero on and off the field. In the fall of 1997, in the prime of his youth, he is unexpectedly stricken with an infection that destroys his optic nerve. He becomes blind overnight. Under the influence of parents who love him, a physical therapist who challenges him, a coach who inspires him, and a best friend who he cannot bear to leave behind, Travis shows us what true bravery is by competing on he gridiron, helping his Corbin High School team advance to the state playoffs. 23 Blast follows Travis and Jerry Baker, his closest friend, from the time they meet on the football field as kids through high school. Baker’s attraction to the dark side of teenage temptations, beer and drugs, threatens to pull the friends apart. It is only on the football field where they truly connect.

I absolutely LOVED this movie! I am hoping we can carve out a little time this weekend to go see it. I know my son would love it. The message of the film is what I think is so great. It’s uplifting and you see someone prevailing over adversity. My sons little league football team needs to win this weekend in order to go to the playoffs…I think seeing 23 Blast is exactly the motivating movie they should see before their big game! My favorite part in the movie was when Jerry Baker went to the hospital to visit Travis and he takes him for a little adventure in the hospital. The elevator scene is the best!
