My last child is finally in high school. It’s really hard to believe sometimes. Actually, most of the time. She goes to the same high school that her dad and I both graduated from, so that’s kind of fun too. She gets very excited to do all the things high school kids are doing right now. Like going to the Friday night football games and participating in the themes for homecoming. Next big event coming up is Halloween. I am a firm believer that high school kids CAN definitely dress up. When I was in high school, we had costume contests at lunch! I’ve come up with fun high school Halloween costume ideas that your kids can dress up as. And the best part…you can get the costumes all with things you have at home or on Amazon!

High School Halloween Ideas!
Halloween for high school aged kids doesn’t have to be super elaborate (or it can be…your choice)! Some kids like to go the super easy (and comfortable route) and get a onesie. Every year when my daughter’s soccer team has their Halloween practice, we stop at the store and get a onesie for her to wear. Last year she was a Yeti. It was hilarious!

Popular Teen Halloween Costumes
One of the easiest High School Halloween costumes are the ones based off their favorite characters in movies or TV shows. Some ideas:
- Characters from Clueless
- Characters from Mean Girls
- Squid Game Costume
- Dress as your favorite Pogue in Outer Banks
Most of those ideas above, you can pull things out of your closet or pick up a few items on Amazon and you have a costume ready to go! I know that Squid Game is all my daughter has been talking about lately. I’m sure we will see a few kids dressed in that costume this year! The same goes for the Outer Banks characters. Halloween Costume Accessories
You want to dress up, without really dressing up? Simply pick up a few accessories and add it to your everyday clothes. Like cat ears with your black shirt and leggings. Simple accessories and maybe a little face makeup and you have a super quick and easy costume!

My personal favorite is the robber costume above! Super cute! And the fun thing is, you can dress up as robbers with your friends or one of your friends could go as a cop! Whatever you choose, have fun with it!
Unconventional Dress Up Ideas
Not every costume needs many accessories at all. In fact, this high school Halloween costume is a fun one and not one you see all the time. Take a bunch of those “Hello, My Name Is…” stickers and write a bunch of names on them. Then stick them all over yourself and go as an “identity thief”. Another fun one is to tape a cereal box to your shirt, stick a plastic or fake toy knife into the box and go as a “cereal killer” (this one would be used for outside of school, unless your school is OK with toy knives. Double check that). What unconventional Halloween costumes can you come up with?
