One of my absolute FAVORITE Christmas traditions is to decorate Christmas cookies with the kids. However, if I am being honest, I do not like actually making the cut out cookies. I don’t have a lot of counter space and quite honestly, the idea of flour everywhere makes me twitch. In years past, I have purchased already cut out cookies that you have to bake from Gordon Food Services. While that was a good option, it came with WAY more cookies than we needed (72 cookies, to be exact). The last couple years, now that my kids are older, we have made round cookies, those candy cane cookies, etc. This year, I was approached to try out a new to me product called Color My Cookie. When I read up on what they offered, I jumped at the chance to try it out!

About Color My Cookie
While I think this business is absolutely genius, how they got started is actually a pretty fantastic story. Unfortunately, like many businesses in 2020, Chef Sam and Nancy, owners of Color My Cookie, had to shut their doors and lay off 11 of their 14 employees, thanks to the Covid Pandemic. While I am sure they were devastated to have their dreams turn out like that, they didn’t just close up shop and give up on their dreams. Instead they started putting together DIY cookie decorating kits and delivering them from their very own cars! This quickly became a hit and Color My Cookie was able to hire 10 new employees (some of which were the ones previously laid off), was featured on The Today Show Online, The Food Network Online, and Red Tricycle. Not only that, but they were also shipping to all 50 states and Puerto Rico! This all happened by the end of 2020!

Is it Easy? Do the Cookies Taste Good?
First of all, let me preface what I am about to say with this…while I love to bake and I think I am pretty good at it, I am TERRIBLE at decorating my cakes, cupcakes, etc. However, these cookies were SO easy to do and I think they turned out pretty darn good! My daughter and I sat down and did them together.
Literally, all you need to do is dip the included paint brush into the water, rub it on your selected color on the edible paint pallet and start coloring your cookie! The included icing was good for piping around certain areas or sticking the bigger decorations to the cookie! While I would have loved to have tasted these cookies (sugar cookies and shortbread cookies are my absolute favorite), I am allergic to wheat and gluten so I was unable to. However, both my daughter and nephew tasted them and they both thoroughly enjoyed them!
