I’m sure I can’t be the only parent who’s child ordered $60 in apps onto one of our Android based phones from the Google Play store.  Let me tell you, I almost freaked when I got the bill and there was an additional $60 on there.  I knew it had to be a mistake though.  We had unlimited service so what could it have possibly been?  So I had my husband call T-Mobile and when they said “well sir, you bought $60 in apps”, my husband turned and looked at our son, looked at me and his face fell.

We explained to the T-Mobile customer service representative that it must have been our son who did that because he (my husband) did not order all those apps.  The T-Mobile rep laughed and then said that he would do a ONE TIME removal of  the fee.  But if this happens again…we were SOL.  Of course we thanked him profusely and then told our kids if they EVER purchased an app again, it was coming out of their money.

After Googling, I found directions on how to set a pin code for the Google Play store!  Here’s what you do:

  • Click on your Google Play store app.
  • Once in the app, click your menu button and click on settings.
  • Scroll down until you see “Set or Change PIN”
  • Enter the 4 digit PIN and click OK.  You will be asked to re-enter it.
  • Be sure to check the box that says “Use PIN for purchases”

And now you have a PIN set so your kids, spouse or stranger who finds your phone, is unable to order unwanted apps!!

So tell me, I can’t be the only one that has dealt with something like this. What apps, Amazon purchase, or On Demand movie purchase did your kids do? Make me feel a bit better!
