The other day I posted my absolutely ridiculous saga with T-Mobile. I told you I would update once I heard from them. I was hoping it would a positive update and they would, in fact, see the error of their ways, but unfortunately they continue to give me the run around. I was at my children’s football and cheerleading practice last night (literally around the block from my house) and I could not use the internet on my phone. I immediately called T-Mobile to see what the heck was going on. I got one woman on the phone who literally drove me crazy because she was reading word for word from a script and it had nothing to do with what I was asking her. Thankfully we got disconnected.
I called back and got the NICEST customer service person I have ever spoken with. I wish I could remember her name so I could publicly acknowledge how wonderful she was, but my call was recorded (for training purposes, of course) and I’m sure T-Mobile is reading this post. At any rate, what she told me is the very first piece of information that has made sense. She told me that my area and much of the North Eastern United States used to share towers with AT&T. When the merger fell through, AT&T gave T-Mobile the boot…so where I used to have excellent service, I now live in a bubble area. To make a long story short…if I am lucky enough to travel within a T-Mobile service area, I get internet. If I travel outside of it (which is pretty much where I live) then I pull from 50MB of Domestic Data Roaming. In other words, I pay for unlimited T-MOBILE data per month, but I only get a day of data service because I am pulling from the Domestic Data Roaming (which if you remember from my other post, one of T-Mobile’s super intelligent customer service people told me that Domestic Data Roaming does not exist in my account).
Guess what their solution is? Oh this is a good one. They want to extend the ever so generous option of updating me to 5GB of data (that I can’t use because they no longer service my area) which will also give me 100MB of Domestic Data Roaming. Is your jaw dropping? They are giving me an extra day of internet usage, but still having me pay for an entire month’s worth. Oh and they want to extend my contract another 24 months. I responded with a big fat NO WAY.
Maybe it’s the optimist in me, but I am still holding out that T-Mobile will do what is right. But in the mean time, feel free to voice your concerns with T-Mobile at their T-Mobile Take Action site. I have! Also you can reach out to them on Facebook or Twitter. But please…if you do nothing else, share this post with your friends. Don’t let your friends or family get roped into a cell phone company like this one.
