It’s football season and my son is playing tackle football for the first time this year. I am one nervous mom. Zachary only weighs 52 pounds. The maximum weight for his age group is 110 pounds. We just scrimmaged a team and I’m telling you right now…some of those eight year olds were over the 110 pounds…at eight years old. That’s insane! At the rate Zachary is going, he’s not going to be 110 pounds until he’s at least 12 years old, but probably even older!

Football Season Picture Day
Last week we had picture day. When you have 120+ boys, they get restless pretty quick. I don’t know who’s genius idea it was to put the youngest group last, but Zachary’s team was last for pictures. Unknown to me, my husband told Zachary that football players don’t smile in pictures. Now here I am watching EVERY other kid smile and look cute in their uniform…here is my son, trying not to smile:
Picture Day Family Affair
Yes. That is what I paid a lot of money for…that is what will be on his trading cards…that is, unless the photographer got one where he wasn’t smirking! Since Dan is a coach, he got to take a picture with both Zachary and Bella. Those turned out even better. My favorite is the last one where Bella looks at Dan like, “WTF”. We will definitely remember this season for years to come!
The Football Season Kick-off
Next weekend is my son’s first official game. Making sure he is safe on the field will be my top priority. My biggest fear is a head injury. With all the information out there about head injuries and football in particular, it’s a wonder I was OK with him being on the field. But, I guess we can’t keep our kids in a bubble! I will be crossing my fingers ever week during this football season that he doesn’t get hurt!
