I was born in the 80’s so I grew up and have a lot of memories of the 80’s and 90’s.  It cracks me up when I see things that were “cool” back then become “cool” now!  Like those slap bracelets. My kids LOVE them!  And now everything comes in a slap bracelet form…even watches!  My kids also like stickers and have sticker books.  They don’t trade stickers like I used to, but it still makes me smile watching my daughter put a bunch of stickers in her sticker book.  Some of my fondest memories growing up are of all the time we spent trading stickers!

Top Ten Things that Prove You Grew Up in the 80’s and 90’s!

  1. You wished you had the ability to freeze time by simply touching your two pointer fingers together.  Come on, you know you used to try it and wish for it!
  2. You forgot to take care of your Tamagotchi.
  3. Puffy stickers, stickers with gel in them and fuzzy stickers were way more valuable than flat stickers.  I still remember my friends sticker with gel that I wanted so bad!  But she wouldn’t trade it!
  4. “Now this is the story all about how”…I bet you can still sing it word for word!
  5. You had a Dorothy Hamil haircut.
  6. You fantasized about driving around in Dylan’s Porsche.
  7. You wore double socks.  Hot pink and lime green on one foot and lime green and hot pink on the other foot.
  8. Banana clips and crimped hair was cool.
  9. Slap bracelets were invented and banned in school (at least my middle school).
  10. “Doh!” and “Cowabunga Dude” were part of your vocabulary.
  11. You colored the bottom of your Keds with different gel pens (and then walked through the house leaving different colored dots on the floor).
  12. Blowing into your SNES game was the cure all when it didn’t work!
  13. You could do the Moon Walk almost as well as Michael Jackson!
  14. You had a perm AND used Sun-in…sometimes at the same time.
  15. You know who said “Why Me?  Why? Why? Why?”
  16. Teen Spirit was your first deodorant.
  17. Only Big Bird could see Mr. Snuffleupagus
  18. You know who said “whoa” and could say it just like him.
  19. You watched the OJ Simpson Trial.
  20. You pegged your pants.

Can you add anything to my list???

What would you add to this list? I know there are only 20 things on this list, but I could literally add a dozen more. Whenever people say how long ago the 90s are, it is shocking to me! I feel like the 90s are only 10 years ago! Seriously! While I couldn’t pull off the 90s styles now, it makes me feel so good to see the 90s clothing styles coming back into style! What was your favorite 90s style? For me it was tank tops, overalls and a black choker! I love that I grew up in the 80s and 90s.

Now, I was having babies in the late 80’s and 90’s so I only remember part of these, but I did find myself saying “whoa” with that certain tone. HaHa!
These did bring me back… I cannot believe I used to peg my jeans, and wear two pairs of socks.
You did forget to mention big hair with AquaNet. =)
    Thanks for the memories.
