How many of you forget to take your medications, supplements or over-the-counter medication? Or..better yet, how many of you forget to give your children their medication or vitamins? I’ll be completely honest, but I am super bad about forgetting to give my kids their vitamins. I try to remember, but we get going in the morning and before you know it, we are running out the door for school.
What if I told you all that forgetting stops today? What if I told you that there is a two-way secure messaging platform, that works with almost any mobile regardless of the operating system or service provider?
What is the Care4Today Mobile Health Manager?
The Care4Today app has been designed so users create a free account, schedule medication reminders and update information from either the website or their mobile device. Don’t have a Smartphone? That’s OK! Simply sign up at the website and you can receive reminders via text message! This app is available both in the App Store and Google Play!
How Does Care4Today Work?
After registering within the mobile app or the website (be sure to answer a security question just in case you forget your password…it happens!), you can start adding medication reminders by doing the following:
- Click on the “add medication” icon.
- Type in the first few letters of the medication. If it is in the database, it will pop up. In the event that it is not in the database, you can add a custom medication.
- Click on the name and image that matches your medication. If there is not an image, you can manually add it.
- Enter in the pertinent details for the medication (dose, frequency, etc).
- Customize a reminder message (for example: Stop what you are doing and take your medication) <–this will show up as an alert on your phone.
- Once you take the medication, click on the medication icon and it will indicate that you took it. If you can’t take the medication, for whatever reason, simply respond to the text and it will be noted on your account why you didn’t take it.
Sounds great, doesn’t it?!? Well guess what…it just gets better and better! With this app, you can even set refill reminders! This is the part I need a lot of help with. My son’s medication prescription has to be picked up each month. I’d love to say I can remember to refill it, but I often forget to call for a new prescription until the very last minute. Not good.
Care4Family Feature
Another great feature of this app is the Care4Family feature. This feature allows family members to support each other by monitoring their medication. I think this feature will come in handy when my son gets older, has a cell phone, and is taking responsibility for his own medication. If he doesn’t take his medication, I will get a text message telling me he didn’t take it and I can then step in and encourage him to take it.
Care4Charity Feature
This features allow people who take care of their own health the opportunity to make a positive difference in the world (and we can all use more positive today!). Users can simply select one of the three charities listed below to receive a donation made by Janssen Healthcare Innovation for each and every day they take their medication! Those charities to choose from are:
- American Diabetes Association
- AIDS United
- Save the Children
A minimum of $20,000 will be donated to each charity and a maximum additional donations o $90,000 will be donated to all of them combined.
My Thoughts
I just downloaded this app from the App Store and I love it. I have a medication that I need to take twice a day and well, let’s face it…the second dose is hard to remember. Set up was quick and easy. I made sure to put my medications in, my sons medication in, the kids vitamins, and I even made a custom medication…only I typed in “eye patch” because I need to remember to put my daughters eye patch on each day for two hours.
I highly recommend this app. In this day and age where everyone is running constantly, it’s always nice to have a reminder!
