Yesterday was my birthday. For my birthday I asked my husband for ONE thing…a Kindle Paperwhite. You see, I recently decided to start reading again. I used to read all the time, but then life got in the way and reading was the first thing I decided I didn’t have time for. However, that all changed when I realized that I was not doing anything for myself…like ever. So now, every morning, I read for 1 hour. Every night I read until I fall asleep. I am SOOO much happier now!

I asked for a Kindle Paperwhite because I used to have one of the original Kindle’s and I really liked it a lot. However, with the original Kindle, I had to have a separate book light in order to read in bed…unless I wanted my bedroom light on and I didn’t! Guess what…my hubby did good! He and the kids got me a Kindle Paperwhite, a case for the Kindle and a gorgeous Coach bag!
About the Kindle Paperwhite
First, and foremost, it’s light! I had an iPad 2 that I gave to my daughter because it was heavy and I really wasn’t using it for anything. The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is over 30% lighter than the iPad mini! For me, since I have Carpal Tunnel, being that it is small and light is much easier and comfortable for me. Another reason why you should get a Kindle Paperwhite is because it has a built in light! I can read in the dark before bed and my eyes are not strained at all! Likewise, I can also read in direct sunlight because it has absolutely NO screen glare! Last, but certainly not least, another feature I like is that I simply need to tap the screen to turn the pages. That’s it!
My husband and kids gave me my gifts on Saturday. I’ve already put on book on there (The Maze Runner) and because the Kindle is so light, I take it everywhere with me. I am stuck in the car at different practices for the kids and usually I am stuck playing Candy Crush on my phone. Not anymore!
I spend so much of my time connected to the internet that it’s nice to be able to disconnect for a bit and just enjoy a good book. I prefer an e-reader over an actual book because I just don’t have the room to store all kinds of books. Before I got my Kindle, I was checking books out of our local library, but it seemed like every book I wanted was always checked out. Or they only come in paperback and let’s face it…my eyes aren’t what they used to be! The words in a paperback book are too small!
If you’re on GoodReads, let me know! I’ve recently found that site and I enjoy logging each book I read and sharing with my friends! I also like seeing what you all are reading too!!

30 percent lighter than the ipad mini. That’s neat. I have an ipad mini and think that’s pretty light already. Happy birthday! Love your coach bag too!

Ohhh I would love one of these babies! The light would come in handy to since I read in bed and do not want to disturb my husband.

I’ve read on it since Saturday night every single day for a couple hours each day and the battery is still pretty much full! It’s so awesome!
