With your laptop or computer, there is nothing worse than getting a virus. A few years ago, I clicked on what I thought was a harmless link at a site I frequent often (and no…it’s not one of those sites silly!) and all of a sudden all this weird stuff started happening in front of my eyes. It was like I was no longer controlling my computer. Windows upon windows were opening up. My virus protection software and firewall were immediately shut off. Before I knew it, my computer was so out of control, there was nothing I could do but turn it off. Unfortunately for me, I got a massive virus that literally destroyed my laptop and all my precious pictures of my daughters birth, etc. I was devastated.
When I was asked to review the Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, I jumped at the chance. I had heard very good things about their product, but unfortunately when I got my new laptop it came with a different virus protection software. But that’s a thing of the past now! The preloaded virus software has been removed and my computer is now being protected by Kaspersky!
For $79.95, you get a 1 year license that can be installed on up to 3 computers. You can find it at retailers like Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart…I’ve even seen it at Costco. Here are a few of the features about Kaspersky that make it so much better than those other virus protection softwares:
- Desktop Security Gadget – This allows you to instantly see your protection status, drag and drop file scanning, and customizable one-click access to the reports and tools you use most.
- Parental Controls – You ca ndo more than block your kids from inappropriate content coming in…prevent your family’s personal information from being sent out, by designating account numbers, addresses and more as “private”. You can also limit the amount of time your child can spend on the computer or online every day.
- Safe Run – Provides an added layer of protection for running suspicious or unknown programs and websites. The Safe Run environment is completely walled -off from your data and PC settings, so you can “test drive” programs with total confidence that no harm will come to your system.
- Surf Safely – At Kaspersky Lab, we keep “naughty and nice” list of websites. We always block the sites that are bad, and we alert you when visiting sites that have been recently used to infect visitors…these sites are most likely to be used again for attacks.

Even though I received a copy of the Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 for the purpose of this review, my opinions are completely mine and I would recommend Kaspersky to anyone looking for a virus protection program for their computer. In fact, shortly after I installed this on my computer, a friend of mine got a virus on her laptop and I told her what I am using on my computer and she is now using the same thing. It really is user friendly and keeps my computer safe. | ||||||||||||||||||||
