Could you do away with cable?

How To

For quite some time now, I’ve tossed around the idea of giving up cable. The only problem, and I fully admit that it is REALLY silly on my part, is that I am a huge Days of Our Lives fan. I’ve watched the show since I was 11 years old. Sure, if I gave it up, I could watch the show on my computer, but do I want to do that? I don’t know about you, but I love to watch cable television. I remember when I was a kid, my parents refused to pay for cable. “Why should we pay to watch our television?”. So anytime I went to my friends house, I got my cable fix. They had every single channel! I remember it being the greatest thing in the world!

Giving Up Cable Options

There are so many things you can do nowadays if you choose to give up cable and still be able to watch your television. When I was at Costco last, I saw this HDTV Antennacable. I was a bit unsure about it. I mean, growing up we didn’t have it and we had an antenna on our roof, so I guess, in theory this should work. However, my doubt was quickly erased away! I was at a friends house and they had one of these! She said it works great! They had the TV on so I was able to see the picture! It was NOTHING like the picture I remember on our TV back in the 80’s! It was great!

Other things I would get if I gave up cable would be subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime and/or Hulu. Each of those subscriptions cost money per month (you may be able to prepay for the year…I’m not sure, but definitely check that out since that usually saves you money), however the amount you pay is WAY less than the amount you are paying for cable. It also gives you an opportunity to check out the Comcast Cable Internet packages to up your internet. That is one thing I cannot and will not live without!

Did you give up service? What’s it been like? Please leave a comment letting me know how it’s been!

An ipod shuffle is $50. You only pay that once. Cable even if it is only $50 is paid every month. How stupid are you to compare the 2 things?

lol not to mention I never said anything about a money issue. I just don’t need the cable. And days is a regular channel, but without cable or an antenna, it will be fuzzy.

I would rather cut off my arm then go without cable but they so post soaps in 10-15 minute spots on you tube.

I would not go without cable…but if the only thing holding you back from cutting cable is not getting Days clearly without cable or an antenna, it would make the most sense to cut the cable and buy an antenna for a couple of days.
