Zack’s First Field Trip!

The way field trips work at Zachary’s preschool (and maybe this is how all preschool’s work…I don’t know) is that any child that goes, they have to have a parent or adult with them. That eases my mind some since the thought of letting my kid be out in the “real world” with people I don’t know all that well…doesn’t really work for me.

Today we went to the Plymouth Apple Orchard. It was so fun. The kids (and parents!) learned how apples grow. Zack, being the kind of kid who likes to know how everything works, was very interested to learn how an apple grows. He went over and over the process with me on the way home. Such a smart kid! After learning how the apples grow, we got to take a wagon ride out to the orchard where the kids got to pick one apple each.

Finally, the best part…we went into the barn and had cider and donuts! I have never seen so many donuts disappear so quickly! Those kids inhaled those donuts! After donuts we took the children outside and they ran and ran and ran. There are a lot of different animals to see and feed and Zack had a blast feeding the goats. We were at the same orchard a couple of weeks ago and he would not feed the goats at all. He would just throw a hand full of grass in their face once they opened their mouth to eat. This time he actually let them eat from his hand!!!

Would you believe, I forgot my camera??? šŸ™ I was so bummed when it dawned on me that I didn’t have it. His first school trip and I forget it. Oh well.

What fun for your son! My son’s preschool field trips work the same way. I was wondering about busses and stuff too and thinking no way. LOL He is going next week to Big Red Cider Mill, Daddy is going with them. Should be fun for them!
