What the Heck Does it Take?

We have a house on my street that has been dubbed “the drug house”.  At the very beginning of the summer there was a drug bust there.  The cops, state police and drug sniffing dogs were all over the house  and cars, pulling stuff out of the cars, arresting the teenagers, etc.  Now the parents, unless they are in on the drug stuff, have to be pretty stupid.  We all knew what was going on.  Cars driving up to the house at all hours of the night, a teen would run out to the door, hand something to them, and go back to the house.  But whatever.  The police took care of it, or did they?

This same house has at least 3 dogs, but we think they have more than that, but we’ll go with 3 for now since I have physically seen 3 of them.  Anyway, they have 3 dogs that are ALWAYS getting out.  To the point that a police officer back in July went door to door letting neighbors closest to this train wreck of a house know that if we see the dogs out, to call the police right away.  They.Are.Not.Friendly.Dogs.

It has gotten to the point that we can’t be outside in the front yard because we never know when these dogs are going to be running wild in the neighborhood.  My son wanted to ride his bike the other day and I was panicking because 2 of the 3 dogs got out, they could easily kill him.  So I let him ride for like 5 minutes before herding him back inside.

I shouldn’t have to live this way.  Basically the police are doing nothing.  After calling EVERY time we see the dogs out, we are basically told that unless a dog bites someone, they can’t do anything about it.  That’s bullshit to me.  Remember, I said that 2 of the 3 dogs could easily kill a kid.  Why should we all be afraid to be out in our yards because these idiots can’t keep their dangerous animals locked up?  And I don’t live in a bad area.  I live in a nice town.  My sub, besides these losers, is a nice sub

I have googled and googled and googled, trying to find a way to get rid of these dogs.  Basically, if the dogs are picked up by animal control or the human society, the family has a certain number of hours to claim the dog(s), pay a fine and then they are good to go home to terrorize the neighborhood some more.

It’s ridiculous and needs to stop.

I really feel for you. My cousins have the same problem (minus the drugs) with their neighbor. It is just one dog. The dog has bitten my cousin in her own yard as she was trying to get into her car one morning. Nothing was done. Everyone got excited because the dog got hit by a car last year (sick I know, but this is a mean dog) The dog survived. When we visit and the neighbors let the dog out my son goes in the house. They do not know what to do either. It is horrible that you have to feel that way in your own neighborhood.
