About a week ago, my husband was in Bed Bath & Beyond looking at the pots and pans because the Calphalon non-stick pans we got when we got married turned to crap really fast.  The non-stick coating started peeling off, which then made the pan not usable.  I’ve even read that it becomes toxic.

So since we really didn’t want to poison our kids or ourselves with the pots and pans, we started looking at new ones.  HOLY COW!  Pots and pans are expensive.  We had no clue what we were going to do.  One day we were at Meijer and saw a set of pans clearanced out for $89.  We considered buying that set.  But in comparison to the Calphalon (aside from the non-stick issue), they were crap…just a different type of crap.  So then we decided to pool together our birthday money and buy a new set of stainless steel pans at Bed Bath & Beyond.

While Dan was in there with his mom, showing her what we were considering, one of the workers started talking to him and when he found out why we were in the market for new pots and pans he told Dan to just bring the entire set back to their store and if the manager is able to find the set in their computer, they will give us store credit since our pans must be defective.  I was stunned!  But we did what the worker told us, packaged up the set and headed back to the store.  Right away the manager told us that there had to be something wrong with the pans that were peeling.  We had only had the set for less than 10 years.  They should last longer than that.  He figured out how much we got in store credit and we picked out our new pans.  We went with the Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 13 piece set.

I fell in love with my new pans the second I started cooking in them…so easy and the cleanup was WAAAAAY easier than with the crappy non-stick pans.

Doesn’t that look yummy?!?  I made a chicken stir-fry with chicken (of course!), red pepper, onions, asparagus, carrots, garlic, and a little olive oil and mango habanaro seasoning.  It was SOOOO good!
