What do You take for Your Cold and Allergies?

This June has been a rough month for me.  I never used to have seasonal allergies, but since both pregnancies a whole lot of what I didn’t used to deal with, has become an issue.  For instance, my back never used to hurt…but thanks to the way my babies liked to lay while I was pregnant, I now deal with a wicked sciatica pain from time to time.

Seasonal allergies is another problem I have had to recently start dealing with.  If I am walking outside when someone is cutting their grass, I instantly start to cough and I can feel my nose and head getting all stuffy.  For me, the entire month of June has been horrible.  It started out with a head cold.  After a couple days of dealing with the head cold, it all started to settle in my chest.  And that’s when the real mess began.  I was coughing all night long and if that wasn’t bad enough, I lost my voice.  Completely.  Having a four year old and a seven year old and not being able to talk is torture!

What helped me the most during this time was keeping my throat “wet”.  But a person can only drink so much and sucking on hard candy or cough drops all day long is not much of an option since I am diabetic.  However, Cold-EEZE offers a sugar free throat drop that helps lesson the time you are sick!!  Here is a little information from their site on how to best use Cold-EEZE the next time you’re feeling down:

  • Cold-EEZE treatment should begin within 24-48 hours of the start of a cold and be used daily until all symptoms resolve. The earlier, the better.
  • Completely dissolve a Cold-EEZE lozenge in your mouth. Do not chew. Repeat every 2 to 4 hours as needed.
  • The recommended daily dosage is 6 lozenges per day, which means an 18 count bag/box is a 3-day supply of Cold-EEZE for adults.
  • Children 12-17 can take 4 lozenges per day.
  • Consult your healthcare professional before giving Cold-EEZE to children under 12 years of age.
  • Cold-EEZE is safe to take with most other medications including other symptom relievers.
  • Avoid stomach upset — do not take Cold-EEZE lozenges on an empty stomach.
  • Avoid citrus fruits and juices, as well as other products containing citric acid, 30 minutes before and after taking Cold-EEZE lozenges, as they may diminish product effectiveness.
  • Zinc may interfere with the absorption of minocycline, doxycycline, tetracycline as well as Coumadin. Ask a Doctor prior to using Cold-EEZE.

The very first Cold-EEZE I put in my mouth made me feel better.  It didn’t “cure” me, but my sore throat felt better and it really helped to keep me from fully losing my voice more than the one day that I completely lost it.  One thing that is key is to NOT chew the lozenge.  You want to let it completely dissolve in your mouth to get the full effect.  Plus, the one time I did chew it, I got a stomach ache afterwards.

Sugar free Cold-EEZE comes in these delicious flavors:

  • Honey Lemon (my favorite!)
  • Wild Cherry
  • Pomegranite
  • Chocolate Mint

You can find Cold-EEZE at many local retailers near you.  But check out their site for a convenient store locator!  Just click on your state!

I received 2 boxes of Cold-EEZE to try for the purpose of this review.  All opinions are mine.
