Before you run and find your calendar to double check the date, I do realize Thanksgiving is 4 months away…but I’m excited.  You know why?  Because I am going to be hosting my very FIRST Thanksgiving ever!

So now that the location for Thanksgiving is set, it’s time to plan my menu!  Now…for the turkey we are planning on making a beer can turkey on the BBQ!  (I will remember to take BOTH bags of nasty junk out of the turkey this time).

I will also make a small ham in the oven as well since my kids love ham.  Between now and Thanksgiving I will pay attention to what coupons I have and what things I can stock up on beforehand and save money doing it!
Some things I am thinking about having already are:
  • Stuffing (can’t have Thanksgiving with out stuffing)
  • Cranberries (maybe I’ll make this recipe because it’s called Tarted Up Cranberry Sauce!)
  • Mashed Potatoes and gravy
  • Salad
  • steamed carrots
  • green bean casserole

Am I missing anything?  What are some staples that you have at your Thanksgiving dinner?

My favorite holiday (close 2nd is Christmas). My mom always fixed both a turkey and a ham. So I do the same thing. We're big ham lovers in my family. 🙂 I always fix a broccoli casserole and Mexican cornbread on Thanksgiving, too.
