How Bad do I Eat?

Healthy Living

I told you before that I am trying to remove the bad stuff from our diet and replace it with lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and things that I make from scratch.  But I have to start slowly.  So for a little over a week and a half I have made ALL of the bread that we eat and I made banana muffins.  Slowly, but surely I am getting that stuff out of my house.  But of course, some is still there.  Mainly for convenience  factors right now while we try to get through our first season of football, which if you have never been through football season with your kids…it’s insane.  So anything that is convenient, is good!

Here is my pantry shelves that line the wall leading down to my basement.  This is one of my most favorite places in the house (yes I realize this makes me weird…but then again, my dream  house will have a walk in pantry):

Not to bad.  Zack loves Ramon Noodles.  So I have to make sure I have that for him and Easy Mac…remember, I need quick and easy things for after practice.

Now let’s take a look at the inside of my fridge:

Not too bad either.  I have my fruits and veggies out in the open.  My son drinks Vitamin D milk because he needs the extra fat.  Bella drinks soy due to her dairy intolerance.  The worst thing in that picture is probably the Miracle Whip.  Yes I realize that is not good for you, but I love it in tuna.

The top of my fridge also contains food:

Mmm…now I want Veggie Straws!  If you haven’t tried them, you MUST!  They are so good!  The large tupperware in the center holds all the things my husband takes with him when he has to travel by car out of town for work.  Things like peanuts, beef jerky, a bowl for cereal in the morning, etc.

I have one more pantry to show you…this one is embarrassing:

Yea…I don’t really having anything to say about this cabinet.  It’s bad.  But…on the plus side, it’s going away soon!

What would we find if we looked in your pantry or fridge?

If you would like to join in and show us what you have in your home, head on over to Momdot and join in on our fun!

Oh! Also, *high five* on the veggie straws. They are awesome. I can’t eat one because one turns into 20!! My kids love them.

I love how organized your first pantry photo is, no matter what I do I can not stay organized (EVER!!!) But like you said the Miracle Whip has gotta go! We used to use Sweet Baby Ray sauce too, but I started making my own – have you tried? I was pretty surprised at how easy it is and how good it can be. I think it is funny how manufacturers always make the stuff that is easiest to make, box or bottle it up and make you believe you can’t do it on your own ( not that i’m implying that is you, I just mean in general). Like brownie mix – so easy to make your own, but until I tried I thought it was hard and always used a mix. They really had me.

I’m starting to make everything we eat…I’ve never made bbq sauce, but I’m sure it’s not difficult. I’ll be trying one of these days 🙂

It saves money! When he gets tired driving, he can reach in and grab a handful of peanuts and it’s so much better than the 5 hour energy’s!

It’s literally the ONLY organized spot in my entire house. I’m a tad anal about it. I wish I was more anal about other things. But yes, my canned goods have to face out and they are all organized by expiration date.

Don’t ever do a “let’s see what your bedroom or upstairs hallway looks like” blog carnival cause I would have to bow out of that one…or majorly clean and THEN take pictures!

Neat pantry idea! I wonder if that might work in our house… but our basement door is actually in the bathroom. That’s what we get for buying a house built in like 1920 something LOL

I am intrigued by the Veggie Straws! Are they like a literal straw that you put in soup? (I’ve seen edible candy straws before that you put in milk, if that makes sense lol)

    One word: AWESOMESAUCE!!

As for your “bad” cabinet, I don’t think it’s too bad… everyone needs a little treat now and again, and your treats aren’t that terrible. Good for you for taking such good care of your family. =)
