Betty Crocker Shake n Pour Cupcakes and Brownies!

When I got married, I could not cook to save my life.  Just ask my husband.  I once burned the outside of the chicken, but the inside was raw.  As if that wasn’t bad enough…I boiled brownies in the oven.  Who does that?  Thankfully, over the years I have gotten much better at cooking, but baking has never been my strong point (unless it’s my banana muffins…those are great every time!).  Even though I’ve only boiled brownies once in the oven, they just never seem to turn out right.  And then there’s the whole “do you fill the cupcake cups 1/2 full, 2/3 full or what?”.  Oh and don’t get me started on the mess I make scooping cupcake mix into each individual cup!

So for hot messes in the baking department like myself, Betty Crocker has come out with the Shake n Pour Cupcake and Brownie mixes!  Each Betty Crocker mix comes in a container that all you need to do is add water, shake and pour.  I was a tad nervous at first.  I kept picturing lumpy cupcakes.  I really didn’t think the cupcake or brownie mix would completely mix.  But it did!  And actually, the cupcakes got rave reviews at my BBQ.  Check them out…don’t they look great?

My only complaint about the cupcakes was I didn’t always get a dozen.  It was hard to get some of the mix out of the container.  Now the brownies, those turned out amazingly!  Hands down the best brownies I have ever made.  But guess what…every brownie mix I’ve ever used said to preheat the oven to 350 degrees…not the Betty Crocker Shake n Pour Brownies.  I set the oven at 325 degrees.  I think that is the key to good brownies (well that and a great mix)!
